His little girl wakes up and catches her hero before he leaves for work. She hugs and kisses him. She tells him, "I love you, Daddy. Be careful out there. I don't want to see you hurt." She climbed back in bed to get some sleep before school. She drifts back to sleep, hoping in the back of her mind he'll be available for her upcoming birthday party.

A couple of nights after that, there's a knock at the door. Her mom opens the door. Not a word is said. She knows her husband has been tragically killed in the line of duty. He's gone, leaving her daughter fatherless and herself a widow. She gasps, then screams, "No!" The little girl runs to her mother. With worry in her eyes, the girl's small hand tugs on her mother's shirt. She asks, "What's wrong, Mommy?"

Her loving mother just can't bear to tell her that her prince in shining Kevlar couldn't make it home. She drops to the floor. Her daughter wraps her little arms around her mother. "Don't cry, Mommy. Don't cry."

That same little girl now has to grow up without knowing her dad. He won't be at her graduation for high school or college. He won't be available to walk her down the aisle. He won't ever meet his grandchildren. All because of a shooter he was trying to protect the community from.

Just in the first four months of 2016, 32 police officers were killed in the line of duty. 16 were killed by gunfire. Enough is enough.

Police officers are human beings, just as much as you and I are. They laugh. They cry. They have feelings. For every officer fallen, families are left behind, devastated. To the world, a police officer is just another officer. But to his family, he is their world-- their everything.

Yes, black lives matter. White lives matter. Blue (police) lives matter. It's 2016, people! We should have realized this a long time ago. ALL lives matter!!
