"Wait, you're an evil dragon?" Cosette asks blankly.

"I apologize for not telling you, Cosette. My original plan was to eat you and return to my home in the mountains, but I cannot bring myself to do it. You hold a special place in my heart." Talon explains as he swirls around her.

"That is... So cool! Is that the reason your thoughts were so violent?! Why yours and mine clashed?! I have a platoon of questions!" The human exclaims, grabbing the dragon by the face in excitement.

"I can tell." Vendel scoffs at the dragon.

"Excuse me? He answered your question, Mister Vendel. Why are you so rude to him?" Cosette says as she steps towards Vendel.

"He has changed since the stories were told. He would have never made 'friends' with a human such as yourself." Vendel says.

Cosette feels a slight pang in her heart before shaking it off.

"Well, can we be friends so you know why?" She suggests.

"Why would I befriend a fleshling as insignificant as yourself?"

"I just told you why. Or you could also get to know Jim. Or, we don't even have to be friends. Just, you know, leave him alone about befriending a fracking human." She says.

"I am not becoming 'friends' with any of you." Vendel says.

"You know better than most." Vendel says to Blinky, referring to what he'd said earlier.

"What's that mean?" Jim asks Aaarrrgghh.

"Blinky trained Trollhunter before. Unkar 'the unfortunate'." He answers, pointing to the fearful statue above.

"Why is he unfortunate?" Jim asks.

"First night out, torn." He says.

"Like, conflicted?" Jim asks, hoping not the other way.

"No. Limb from limb." He answers.

Jim gives him a fearful look.

"If the amulet chose true, the Soothscryer will reveal it." Vendel says from the middle, where Cosette cannot remember seeing him walk to.

"Please! Master Jim hasn't had even an hour's training." Blinky pleads.

"Mm-m." Vendel hums violently with a stern look.

Jim walks forward towards Vendel, looking at the ground to see steps, more than likely for trolls rather than humans. He steps on them and his amulet glows brightly before the markings on the floor light up red and a pillar rises up. Said pillar at the top is in the shape of a troll's head, the mouth opening up to reveal spinning gears.

"Behold the Soothscryer! It will judge your true spirit." Vendel says. "Insert your right hand, Trollhunter."

"Uhm, I'm gonna get it back, right?" Jim asks.

"That is part of the test." Vendel says.

"That doesn't look safe." Cosette mutters, her older sibling instincts causing her to walk towards Jim.

Vendel stops her, his hand blocking her way.

"Talon." She says, giving the dragon a look after giving the old troll a glare.

Talon nods before flying to float behind Jim in the event that something bad happens.

"Oh, great. Tobes, Tobes! Come here and help me." He says, motioning the teen over.

"Okay Jimbo, but I am not sticking my hand in there." Toby says before leaning down to help him up.

Jim sticks his hand in and starts panicking as it clamps down on his arm.
