“Mom!” Jim exclaims, running up to the woman.
He had gotten them out of the cave. Cosette still sat on his shoulder, feeling a little sick after going through the portal Claire had made.
“Jim!” Barbara exclaims back.
Every kid ran to their parents- or grandparent in Toby’s case. Cosette wanted nothing more than to hug her mother as well, but she knew damn well that she didn’t even know it was her.
Cosette settled for sitting on Jim’s shoulder and waiting for him to stop hugging their mother.
Merlin stood by the trolls, who all nervously stood by the stairs.
“And who’s this little guy?” Barbara asks, tilting her head at Cosette.
Cosette shifts nervously, accidentally digging her claws into Jim’s shoulder.
“Uhm, this is Cosette. She’s gone through some changes… Again.” Jim says, nervously raising his hand to pat her on the head.
“Hi, Mom.” Cosette says as her tail curls around her legs.
Barbara glances at Strickler, giving him an angry glare.
“I wouldn’t say it’s his fault, but it totally is.” Cosette says, noticing her glare as she leans down to avoid Jim’s hand.
“I apologized, did I not?” Strickler says, crossing his arms.
“No. But I sure wish you did.” Cosette scoffs. “Because you just dug your own grave.”
“I guess I wasn’t going to be told about this until later?” Bular says from the basement door, peering out of it in annoyance.
“Bular!” Cosette exclaims, her tail swaying as she leaps from Jim’s shoulder to glide over to him.
He steps out of the basement to catch her, a bit confused on why she was so small.
“What happened to you?” He asks.
“Oh, just a simple spell Talon used to save me from dying.” Cosette grins, raising her wings to show her excitement.
Merlin clears his throat, looking at the group expectantly.
“He doesn’t seem to have changed since I last saw him.” He comments.
“Personality-wise, you cranky old man.” Cosette snaps, rolling her eyes.
“Cosette!” Barbara calls, to which the 24 year old flinches.
“What? He is one.” She says, lowering her wings.
“...As much as I wish not to, I agree with Carrot.” Blinky says.
Cosette snorts in amusement before turning back to Bular.
“You actually introduced yourself to my mom?” She asks in amusement.
“You introduced yourself to my father?” He asks rhetorically.
“Touché.” Cosette says with a grin, her tail swaying once more. “But I fought your father in self defense.”
“Your mother threatened to hit me with a broom.” He says, leaning against the wall. “And threw a paintbrush at me.”
“Did you deserve it?” She asks in amusement.
“Maybe.” He shrugs.
Cosette hums in amusement before jumping up to his shoulder, “I missed you.”
