Michaella's POV

As the sunlight streamed through the curtains, I woke up feeling a mix of exhaustion and contentment from the previous night's emotional turmoil and heartwarming surprise. I quietly slipped out of bed, careful not to wake Mia and Marian, and made my way to the kitchen. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled the air as I prepared breakfast: scrambled eggs, avocado toast, and a fruit platter.

Soon, the sound of soft giggles and footsteps signalled that my friends were awake. Mia and Marian appeared, looking relaxed and happy.

"Good morning!" I greeted them with a smile. "Breakfast is ready."

"Morning, Ella," Marian said, stretching. "This looks amazing."

We spent the next two hours chatting and reminiscing about old times, savouring the food and each other's company. After they left, I tidied up the kitchen and took a quick shower, feeling refreshed and ready for the day ahead.

Today, I had a writing session planned at my favourite café. I gathered my notebook, laptop, and a few pens, and headed out. The café was bustling with the usual morning crowd, and I found a cozy corner by the window. As I settled in, I opened my laptop and began typing, my mind drifting back to a memory that never failed to bring a smile to my face.

Excerpt from Michaella's Story:

"It was the early days of our relationship, right in the midst of the COVID pandemic. With no places open for a traditional date, Gabrielle and I decided to go for a run together. I remember the excitement and shyness that fluttered in my chest as we met at the park.

We started jogging, the cool air filled with our laughter. It felt so natural, so easy, like we had known each other forever. After our run, knowing my love for coffee, Gabrielle suggested we stop at a gas station. I was puzzled at first, but he disappeared inside and came out with two cappuccinos.

'It's not a fancy café, but it'll do,' he said, handing me the cup with a boyish grin. We drove to a nearby park, the kind where trees line the pathways and the scent of freshly cut grass fills the air. We walked hand in hand, sipping our coffee. The simple act of holding his hand sent tingles down my spine.

His fragrance, The One by Dolce & Gabbana, mixed with the crisp air, creating a scent memory that still lingers with me. We talked about everything and nothing, laughing at our own jokes, completely lost in the moment. The world felt magical in its simplicity, and it was perfect because we were together."

After finishing the passage, I felt a bittersweet pang in my heart. I closed my laptop, took a deep breath, and prepared for my next appointment—a meeting with my publishers to finalize details for the upcoming literature event.

At the publishing house, I was greeted warmly by the team. We discussed the schedule, logistics, and the speech I needed to deliver. I appreciated their support as we practiced and refined my speech. It was daunting, but I knew it was an important step for my career.

By midday, I was on my way to my parents' house for lunch. The familiar sight of the home I grew up in filled me with nostalgia. My parents, my sisters Valerie and Ariana, and my brother Andrew were already gathered around the dining table.

"Lunch is served!" Mom announced with a smile as she brought out a delicious spread.

We spent the meal catching up on each other's lives. Valerie, a talented jewellery designer, shared stories about her latest creations. Andrew talked excitedly about his new job, and Ariana filled us in on her college adventures.

"I miss this," I said, looking around the table. "Being together like this."

"We miss you too, Michaella," Dad replied, his eyes warm. "It's always good to have you home."

After lunch, Mom, Valerie, Ariana, and I decided to go dress shopping for our cousin's upcoming wedding. We arrived at a boutique that had just the right mix of elegance and charm.

After finishing lunch with my family, I felt a wave of contentment wash over me. It had been too long since we'd all been together like this, laughing and catching up. It reminded me of how much I missed these moments.

"Are you ready to go dress shopping?" my mom asked, her eyes twinkling with excitement.

"Absolutely," I replied, feeling a rush of anticipation. Valerie, Ariana, and I exchanged excited glances. Dress shopping for our cousin's wedding was something we'd all been looking forward to.

We piled into Mom's car, with Ariana claiming the front seat while Valerie and I squeezed into the back. The car was filled with animated chatter about the wedding, the dresses we hoped to find, and a myriad of other topics.

As we arrived at the boutique, I felt a thrill of excitement. The shop was beautiful, with rows of dresses in every color and style imaginable. We were greeted by a friendly saleswoman who ushered us inside and offered us refreshments.

"Let's start dress shopping," Mom suggested, and we eagerly agreed.

Valerie pulled a soft, lavender dress from the rack. "This one is gorgeous," she said, holding it up to herself.

"I love it," I said, already imagining how beautiful she'd look in it. "Try it on!"

Ariana, who had been wandering around, returned with a dress that shimmered in the light. "How about this one for me?" she asked, eyes wide with excitement.

"That's perfect for you, Ari," I said, smiling. "Let's get you into the fitting room."

Mom found a seat and watched us with a look of pure happiness. "You girls look wonderful," she said as we emerged from the fitting rooms, twirling in our dresses.

We spent the next hour trying on dress after dress, each of us finding the perfect one. Valerie's choice was a floor-length lavender gown that complemented her complexion perfectly. Ariana's pick was a playful, sparkly number that made her look like a princess.

"Now, Michaella, you need to find something stunning," Valerie said, giving me a playful nudge.

I browsed through the racks, finally settling on a deep emerald-green dress that caught my eye. It was elegant, with a fitted bodice and a flowing skirt. I slipped into it and stepped out to show my family.

"Wow, Michaella, you look amazing," Mom said, her eyes shining. "That color is perfect on you."

"Thanks, Mom," I said, feeling a blush creep up my cheeks.

After we had all found our dresses, we headed to the checkout. "This has been such a fun day," Ariana said, skipping alongside us.

"I agree," Valerie added. "We should do this more often."

As we left the boutique, laden with bags, I felt a deep sense of gratitude. Spending time with my family, sharing these moments, was something I cherished more than anything.

We returned home, where I spent a quiet evening with my parents and siblings, enjoying each other's company. Later, as I lay in bed, I reflected on the day. It had been filled with laughter, love, and the kind of moments that made life beautiful. I felt a sense of peace settle over me, knowing that no matter what challenges lay ahead, I had a family who loved and supported me unconditionally.
