Michaella closed her laptop after hours of pouring her emotions onto the page. She felt a little lighter, but the weight of her heartbreak was still there, lingering like a shadow she couldn't shake. She finished her glass of wine and decided to call it a night.

After a hot shower, she slipped into her pyjamas and crawled into bed. The room was quiet, the only sound being the gentle hum of the air conditioner. She turned off the light and lay in the darkness, staring up at the ceiling.

As she tried to clear her mind, thoughts of Gabrielle filled the void. He was the last thing she thought about before drifting to sleep, his image etched into her heart and mind. She closed her eyes and let the memories wash over her, hoping they would bring her some comfort.

In her dreams, she found herself in a place that was both familiar and magical. It was the artificial garden with the big lake, the place Gabrielle had taken her to. The garden was filled with her favourite flower, the lotus, blooming in shades of pink and white. The lake was vast, its surface shimmering under the sunlight.

Gabrielle was there, waiting for her by the edge of the lake. His smile was warm, and his eyes sparkled with love. Michaella felt her heart swell with happiness as she ran to him.

They spent the day exploring the garden, admiring the flowers, and enjoying each other's company. They laughed, walked hand in hand, and shared kisses that felt like they were meant to last forever. The memory of their time together was vivid, every detail etched into her mind.

They had lunch at the restaurant overlooking the lotus lake, the view taking her breath away. The restaurant was elegant, with large windows that offered a panoramic view of the lake. They sat by the window, enjoying the beautiful scenery and each other's company. The food was delicious, but it was the moments they shared that made the day unforgettable.

Michaella wished she could stay in that dream forever. Being with Gabrielle felt like coming home. She didn't want to wake up because her dreams had become her refuge, a place where she could be with him again.

When they were together, she had loved their reality more than any dream. Their time together had been filled with joy and love, and she had never wanted it to end. Now, she ran to sleep, despite struggling to fall asleep at times, because it was the only place she could still see him. In her dreams, they were still together, and she could hold onto the hope that maybe, just maybe, they would find their way back to each other.

As she dreamed of their perfect day, Michaella felt a sense of peace. She knew that even though they were apart, the love they had shared was real and powerful. And in her dreams, she could continue to hold onto that love, even if just for a little while longer.

When morning came, Michaella woke up with tears in her eyes. The dream had been so real, so vivid, that it took her a moment to realize it was just a dream. She wiped away her tears and took a deep breath, ready to face another day. Even though the dream had ended, the love she felt for Gabrielle remained, giving her the strength to keep moving forward.

When Michaella decided to get out of bed, she went to the kitchen to make herself some breakfast. As she opened the fridge, she realized she was missing a few essentials. She grabbed her keys and bag, deciding a quick trip to the store was necessary.

The grocery store was busy, but she moved through the aisles quickly, picking up the items she needed. As she rushed back home, she remembered she needed to continue writing. Once she got home, she made herself a cup of coffee and sat down at her desk, staring at the blank page in front of her. Her thoughts drifted to Gabrielle and how he used to do anything to reassure her that they were good and that he still loved her.

She began to write:

"It was New Year's Eve. I was celebrating with my family, and Gabrielle was with his family, but I was anxious and stressed. We didn't have a lot of time to spend with each other, and we barely talked. I was terrified that we were drifting apart. I was afraid that we would not make it."

Her fingers paused on the keyboard as she remembered the exact moment she had made the call. Her heart had been pounding with fear, and she had felt tears welling up in her eyes. She continued to write, capturing every detail.

I couldn't take it anymore, so I picked up my phone and called him. My voice was shaky as I said, 'Gabrielle, I need to talk to you.'

'What's wrong?' he asked, sounding concerned.

'I just... I'm scared. We haven't been spending much time together, and we barely talk. I feel like we're drifting apart, and it's tearing me up inside. I'm terrified that we won't make it.'

There was a pause on the other end, and I could hear him sigh. 'Michaella, I love you. Everything is good between us. You don't need to worry.'

But his words, though comforting, didn't completely dispel my fears. We said our goodbyes, but my anxiety lingered. Half an hour later, my phone rang again. It was Gabrielle.

'Hey, can you come down to the parking lot?' he asked.

I was confused but agreed. 'Okay, give me a minute.'

Although we were preparing for the family get-together, I made my way downstairs. When I reached the parking lot, there he was, leaning against his car. I got into the passenger seat and looked at him, trying to read his expression.

He reached over and took my hand. 'Come here,' he said, pulling me into a hug. We hugged each other like our lives depended on it. His embrace was warm and reassuring, and I could feel the tension in my body begin to melt away.

'Michaella,' he said softly, 'I'm always here. I promise you, everything is okay. We're okay.'

I felt the tears I had been holding back spill over, and I started to cry. He held me tighter, his hand gently stroking my back. 'Shhh, it's okay. I'm here. I love you.'

His words were a balm to my wounded heart. I pulled back slightly and looked into his eyes. 'Gabrielle, I'm so scared of losing you.'

He wiped away my tears with his thumb. 'You're not going to lose me. We're strong, and we'll get through this. I love you more than anything, and I'll always be here for you.'

I nodded, trying to believe him. We kissed, a soft, lingering kiss that held all our promises and hopes. It felt like the world had stopped spinning, and it was just the two of us in that moment. After a while, I went back upstairs, feeling a little lighter, a little more hopeful. His reassurance had worked its magic, and I was better."

In the present, Michaella looked at the screen and whispered, "I wish you were here to make everything better." She took a deep breath, feeling the weight of her memories pressing down on her. The past felt so close, like she could reach out and touch it, but at the same time, it was an ocean away, unreachable and lost forever.

Her thoughts drifted to how Gabrielle used to handle all her fears and anxieties, how he would listen patiently and always knew the right things to say. She missed that, missed him. She took another sip of her coffee, hoping it would help ground her in the present, but the taste only brought back more memories of their time together, sharing lazy mornings and endless conversations over countless cups of coffee.

Michaella closed her eyes, allowing herself to get lost in the memory for a little longer, wishing she could go back to that moment, even if just for a second.
