Michaella's POV
I woke up to the soft morning light streaming through the curtains of my childhood bedroom. For a moment, I let myself soak in the peacefulness, the familiar scent of home filling my senses. It was comforting to be back at my parents' house, surrounded by the warmth and memories of family. But the calm wouldn't last long; today was a big day.
Sliding out of bed, I took a deep breath, stretching my arms overhead. I had a full schedule ahead of me—meetings, marketing plans, scheduling interviews, and social media work. The book signing event was just around the corner, and everything had to be perfect.
After a quick shower, I slipped into a soft, cream-colored blouse and my favourite tailored jeans, feeling both comfortable and ready to tackle the day. I padded down the hallway, the scent of freshly brewed coffee guiding me to the kitchen.
"Good morning, sweetheart," my mom greeted me with a smile, setting a cup of coffee in front of me. "I figured you'd need this."
"You're a lifesaver," I said, taking the cup gratefully. I sipped slowly, savouring the rich flavour as I mentally prepared for the day ahead.
"Busy day?" she asked, sitting across from me.
"Extremely," I replied, rubbing my temple. "The book signing event is coming up fast, and I want everything to be just right. There's so much to coordinate."
She nodded, her eyes full of understanding. "You've worked so hard for this, Michaella. It's all going to pay off."
"I hope so," I said, smiling at her reassurance. "I just need to stay on top of everything today."
After breakfast, I gathered my things and headed to my room, where I set up my laptop on the small desk by the window. First on the agenda was a marketing meeting with my publicist, Jane. I clicked into the Zoom call, my stomach fluttering with a mix of excitement and nerves.
"Good morning, Michaella!" Jane's bright voice came through as soon as her camera flickered on. "How are you feeling about the event?"
"Excited, a little anxious," I admitted. "But I'm ready to dive into everything."
"We've got a lot to cover," Jane said, her tone businesslike but encouraging. "I've been working on the social media campaign. We're planning to start teasing the event today—some sneak peeks of the venue, your past work, and, of course, the speech you gave at the last event. It's all about building anticipation."
"That sounds perfect," I said, making notes as she spoke. "I want to make sure we're reaching out to as many of my readers as possible."
"Definitely," Jane agreed. "We'll be using Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook for maximum reach. I'm also arranging for a couple of interviews leading up to the event. We've got one scheduled with a major literary magazine—great exposure."
