Pastel Longing

"Maybe it's a sign for you two to have your own soon."

Jenner sniffed curiously as Ethan leaned back against the couch, watching as his wife sauntered around their apartment, looking for their first-aid kit.

It had been a day since the incident with Edwin, and as Naveen had told them to, they were taking their extra day of leave to simply unwind and rest. Insisting that he got his arm clean and re-dressed again, Blue had adamantly sat him down on the couch as she looked for her supplies.

He had gotten the cut in his arm looked at and tended to at the hospital the day before, and thankfully, it was not that deep. However, that did not stop Blue from fussing over him from the moment they got home, chiding him ever so often for stepping into the line of attack for her.

To keep her from rambling further, he had simply engulfed her into his arms again, holding her safe and secure as he knew that despite the fact that she was not entirely rattled by the ordeal, it was still bound to have at least a little effect on her and she was just reeling slightly from the aftermath of it all.

"Did you really have to keep the first aid kit at such an inaccessible place?" Blue grumbled as she returned from the store room with a mini first aid kit in her hands. "What if there was an emergency?"

"If you were able to access it and bring it here, how is it inaccessible?" Ethan could not help but banter. He stifled his laughter at the glare Blue sent his way,

Wordlessly, she knelt in front of the couch where he was sitting, the kit landing next to her with a thud. She snatched his injured arm, pulling it towards her before starting to undo the bandage on it.

"Okay, I'm sorry." Ethan apologized sincerely despite his amusement as he saw the frown and angry pout on her face. She was just worried, and he had been dragging out the teasing. He reached his hand out to carress her cheek before running his knuckles over it. "I'm sorry for worrying you."

"It's okay." Blue mumbled as she dis-infected his wound.

"You know, this sort of reminds me of your first year, very early on..." Ethan mused, recalling for a moment. "When you were snooping around and eavesdropping on mine and Naveen's conversation."

"Okay, first of all, I was not snooping." Blue defended herself, tearing her eyes from his wound to look up at him. "I was getting my staff I.D. that I left at the hospital, as I knew you would rip me a new one if you saw me without it the next day."

"You exaggerate." Ethan replied defensively immediately, causing Blue to let out a giggle. "I would have not overreacted for something that miniscule."

"Trust me baby, at that time, you would have." Blue said with a laugh, making Ethan smile as well. "How does that incident even remind you of this?"

"Because you patched me up that day as well." Ethan answered, the fond smile on his face still evident. "When I punched that wall out of frustration, even when you knew I would rip you a new one, you stayed back to treat my wounds. If it was not for my ego back then, I would have admitted starting to fall for you from even back then."

Blue smiled, wrapping the new bandage around his cut, remembering that day as well. It had only been a week or so since they had first met in proper at that waiting room, and even at that time, she could not deny the chemistry that they had. She even remembered the little bouts of flirting that Ethan had let himself indulge in even back then, and how nervous yet exhilarated she felt around him.

"Okay...Ethan Ramsey, 36 years old, bruises and cuts to his right hand. Treatment plan: Prevent infection of cuts, ice pack for the bruises and a patchwork for a wall." Blue joked.
