Aayansh shekhawat's POV:

As my dad and I were waiting anxiously for the doctor to update us on Mom's condition.

We were both very tense, and I felt guilty for yelling at her earlier.

Suddenly, the doctor came out and said to us,
"Mrs. Shekhawat is okay now. She fainted due to panic, and at her age of 50, stress and panic can be problematic and lead to critical conditions. I suggest you avoid giving her stress and try to make her happy always."

My dad replied to the doctor, "Thank you, Doctor. I will keep your words in mind. Can we see her now?"

The doctor nodded, and my dad and I went inside the cabin where Mom was.
We saw her lying on the hospital bed with an oxygen mask on and a saline drip in her hand.

I felt sad seeing her like this.
My dad went to her side and gave her a gentle hug. "Are you okay?" he asked, slightly concerned.

Mom nodded and gave Dad a small smile, then looked at me and signaled me to come closer.

I went closer to her and, looking down,
said, ''I'm really sorry, Mom. I shouldn't have yelled at you.''

Mom replied, ''It's fine, beta. It's my fault. I shouldn't have forced you to marry Vaidehi.''

I looked at her, and her expression was one of disappointment.

She continued, ''Beta, I... your dad and I let you marry Shruti because you loved her, even though we didn't want you to marry at such a young age. But your happiness was our top priority.''

I saw tears fall from her eyes, and I quickly wiped them away. My heart was clenching at her words.

''But now, for me and Dad, can you please marry Vaidehi? Please, son, don't say no..." I opened my mouth to speak, but Mom continued, holding my hand.

''Just give Vaidehi a chance, beta. She's a lovely girl, and the way she looks at you, I think she loves you. She's hardworking and always treats me like her own mother...''

Mom's voice was laced with a hint of panic, and I felt torn.

I didn't know what to say or do, but
I understood that refusing might worsen her condition.

Yet, I couldn't fathom why Mom was taking Vaidehi's side. ''Fine, Mom, if it makes you happy, I'll marry Vaidehi,'' I said, my voice cold. ''But I'll never give her the same love and respect I had for Shruti.''

Mom's eyes sparkled, and she beamed with joy. ''Thank you, beta! I knew I could count on you. I'll talk to Vaidehi too.''

I left the cabin where doctors keep mom and walked out of the hospital, feeling uncertain about my future.

I went back to the mansion, mom needs to stay in hospital for today's night and dad is with her I'm alone in my mansion.

I directly went to my master bedroom, took out Shruti's photo from my drawer, I took out a beer bottle and started drinking that while looking at Shruti's photo, remembering our best memories.
