"Yes mom, we'll stay safe," you sighed into your phone. "I know mom, no being stupid. Yes, yes I know. Mom! Go focus on work, I promise we'll be fine!!"
With a groan you hung up on her, shaking your head in slight annoyance. You'd just gotten off the flight to I-Island, an area right off the coast of the United States which was home to over thousands of scientists.
Usually, only pro heroes and the best of U.A. students were invited to the annual I-Expo, so your parents had gotten an invite. However, at the last minute, your parents had an emergency to deal with. Because of that, they offered their spare tickets to you and a friend instead, which you gratefully accepted.
I-Island was an artificial island created to collect the brightest minds to research quirks, thereby allowing hero support items to further develop at an amazingly efficient rate. The island was made portable to protect the scientists working there, with security systems even better than that of Tartarus prison in your home country.
Hence, the immigration process was extensive.
"Hotel should be nearby, we'll drop our things off in the lobby and then have a look around," you suggested. "Sound good, Shoto?"
"Right," Todoroki nodded. "There seem to be a bunch of rides here, shall we check those out too?"
"Whatever you want, we've got enough time until the party tonight!" You beamed.
The two of you did as planned, handing your bags to the receptionists at the lobby before heading out again. Suddenly, you heard an explosion, which both of ran to check out, curious.
"A clearance in thirty-three seconds!" The speaker announced. "He's in eighth place!"
"Hey, Kirishima-kun, that you?!" You called, looking up at the redhead.
"Yo, L/N! Nice to see you and Todoroki here!" He grinned. "The two of you should totally join the contest!"
"Please welcome our next challenger! The villain capture course has been reset!" The speaker continued.
On cue, Bakugou flew out, blowing a bunch of robots into pieces within seconds before neatly landing at the bottom. He held the record of fifteen seconds, thereby scoring first place.
"If I win you owe me a drink," you smirked, turning to Todoroki.
"Done," he nodded. "As if you could beat me though."
"We've got a new challenger coming in at the last minute!" She announced.
Midoriya jumped in, quirk activated. He scored second with sixteen seconds. Seeing them, both of you went in for a turn as well. Todoroki froze the entire area in fourteen seconds, effectively overtaking Bakugou. Meanwhile, you took an approach similar to Midoriya's. You jumped off the robots one by one, slowing down time drastically to increase your strength output. Within a blink of an eye, you slid down from the top, the speaker watching you in awe.
"About that drink," you drawled, throwing an arm around his shoulders.
"Yeah, yeah," Todoroki smiled, rolling his eyes. "You'll get it."
"A new record has been set! Four seconds!" She awed.
"Out of the way, Icyhot bastard!" A familiar voice yelled.
"Bakugou," Todoroki sighed.
"Don't just appear out of nowhere and show me up!" He yelled. "That goes for you too, Stopwatch!"
"And I see the others are here too," Todoroki noted.
"Don't ignore me!" Bakugou continued. "What are you two doing on the island anyway?!"
