Nathalie and Vexter sat staring at the wall. Vexter's forehead was still bleeding. Nathalie was just about to wipe the blood off when she realised her hands were tied.
Vexter stared at the floor Hopelessly. Nathalie thought what would happen next.
Would they die? Would they be sold off? Would someone rescue them?
Pft! Who would rescue them? Scarlette? Rachel? Tiana? Felix? Never! They were children like Nathalie and Vexter. They couldn't even dare to come looking for them without any grownups.
Would Mr Carter come? What if he's not even here? What if he's in a different state right now? But wasn't his duty to keep a close eye on this place?
Why didn't Nathalie tell him about the light earlier? Maybe then they wouldn't be in a situation like this. But blaming herself was of no use.
Nathalie also stared at the floor. Just then she heard footsteps. She looked up and saw that it was an old man.
Of course it was Mr Miller!
"Hmm, kids? Really? What were they trying to do? Be detectives? Were they spying of you guys? Hah! So much for 'curiosity'!"
Mr Miller sarcastically said
Nathalie noticed Mr Miller's accent had changed. That sly old fox! He was acting all along!
"Now let me look at our detectives"
Mr Miller pulled Vexter's hair up and jumped back in shock.
"You kids? What are you two doing here?" He asked shockingly
"We never knew you were this kind of man Mr Miller" Nathalie grimly said
"That's not the point, the point is, what are you two doing here at night?" He asked suspiciously
"Boss" James spoke up
"Yes James?"
"I know why they are here"
"Alright, tell me"
"They said they were hungry and were here to ask for for crackers"
"YOU FOOL!" Mr Miller screamed
"That's obviously a lie! They weren't here for that!"
"I'm sorry B-"
James fell to the floor. Nathalie and Vexter saw that it was...Scarlette!
But why was she here? The others were there too.
"Looks like my taser came in handy!" Scarlette boasted
Scarlette had brought a taser which Nathalie scolded for.
'why did you bring that? Are you gonna tase animals!?' Nathalie had said
"Scarlette...you made a mistake...a grave mistake..."
Nathalie said with a hint of sorrow.
Everyone looked at her like she was the star of the show. Yeah right! What mistake?
