Fractured trust

______

Jennie paced her room, the weight of the previous night still heavy on her shoulders. Her mind was a whirlwind of emotions, but one thought stood out clearly: she needed to see her mother. She couldn’t explain it to anyone here; they didn’t know where she lived, and she wasn’t ready to share that part of her life with them.

She glanced at the clock. It was early morning, and the mansion was still quiet. This was her chance. She grabbed her jacket and quietly opened her door, peeking out to ensure the hallway was empty. With silent steps, she made her way down the corridor, her heart pounding in her chest. She couldn't afford to be seen; she had to maintain her secrecy.

Reaching the stairs, Jennie hesitated. She took a deep breath, steeling herself for the risk she was about to take. She descended the stairs swiftly and quietly, each step a calculated move. Her eyes darted around, alert for any sign of movement.

As she approached the main entrance, she paused, listening. The mansion was still silent, the morning sun just beginning to filter through the windows. She moved quickly to the door, her fingers trembling slightly as she turned the handle. She slipped outside, the cool morning air hitting her face.

Jennie walked briskly through the garden, her mind racing. She knew she had to be careful; if anyone caught her, there would be questions she wasn’t ready to answer. She reached the gate and glanced back at the mansion, taking a deep breath before slipping through the gate and disappearing into the early morning shadows.

In the mansion, Taehyung stood at his office window, having caught a glimpse of movement. His eyes narrowed as he watched Jennie slip out through the gate. His curiosity piqued, he wondered where she was going and why she seemed so secretive. He decided to follow her, silently moving towards the stairs.

Just as he was about to descend, a voice called out to him. "Tae, we need you in the meeting room. It's urgent," Jimin said, appearing at the top of the stairs.

Taehyung glanced back at the gate, where Jennie had just disappeared. "I'll be there in a minute," he replied, trying to keep his frustration in check.

"It's really important," Jimin insisted, his tone leaving no room for argument.

Taehyung sighed, knowing he couldn't ignore the call. "Fine," he said, turning away from the stairs. He followed Jimin to the meeting room, his mind still on Jennie and her mysterious departure.

By the time the meeting ended, Taehyung rushed back to the window, hoping to catch another glimpse of her. But she was long gone, leaving him with a sense of unease and a determination to find out where she had gone.

Jennie navigated through the deserted streets until she reached an old, abandoned mansion. It stood ominously against the early morning sky, its walls crumbling and windows shattered. But Jennie wasn't here for the mansion; she moved swiftly to the back, where a small but beautiful house was hidden from view. The contrast between the dilapidated mansion and the quaint house was stark, and it was clear that no one would ever suspect such a lovely home to be here.

She knocked on the door, her heart pounding. A moment later, the door opened, revealing a beautiful woman with kind eyes.

"Jennie, my dear!" The woman exclaimed, immediately pulling Jennie into a warm embrace.

"Mom," Jennie whispered, her voice breaking as she hugged her mother tightly. Tears streamed down her face, and all the tension and fear she'd been holding in for the past month melted away in her mother's comforting arms.
