A Fragile Moment

______

The grand hall buzzed with murmurs as Taehyung and Jennie made their entrance, the crowd parting instinctively to give them space. Taehyung’s presence was commanding—his face set in a cold, unreadable mask, his piercing gaze sweeping the room with the authority that came with being the most feared mafia leader. He was untouchable, and everyone knew it. His hand rested protectively on Jennie’s waist, an unmistakable statement that she was his equal in power and status.

Jennie, standing tall beside him, mirrored his cold demeanor. Her sharp gaze cut through the room like a blade, the reputation of Ruby—the skilled and untouchable gangster—preceding her. Despite her beauty and the elegant outfit she wore, there was no mistaking the danger she carried. Her aura was as intimidating as Taehyung’s, making it clear that no one would dare cross her path.

As they moved through the crowd, other gang leaders and members acknowledged them with respectful nods, but no one dared to approach them. Taehyung’s reputation was one of merciless efficiency, and Jennie’s silence only added to her mystique, making her seem even more untouchable than before. Together, they were a force, their cold exteriors shielding the intense connection that simmered between them.

Taehyung’s hand tightened slightly on Jennie’s waist as they approached a group of influential mafia leaders, his voice low and deadly as he exchanged formalities with them. He spoke sparingly, his tone detached, and his sharp gaze made it clear that he had no time for meaningless conversation. Jennie remained silent, but the subtle way she leaned into Taehyung’s hold told anyone watching that she was just as dangerous and integral to his world.

One of the mafia leaders, a man with a scar running down his cheek, smirked as he glanced at Jennie. "Ruby… I didn’t expect to see you here."

Jennie’s eyes narrowed, her icy stare freezing him in place. "You’ll find I don’t care for pleasantries," she replied coolly, her voice laced with warning.

The man’s smirk faltered, and he quickly looked away, realizing that any further comments might not end well for him. The tension in the room thickened, but Jennie and Taehyung, unfazed, continued to command the attention of the entire hall, their cold personas sealing them off from the rest of the world.

With a casual glance around the room, Taehyung’s low voice cut through the silence, directed solely at Jennie. "Stay close." His tone was protective, but beneath it, there was something darker, a sense of impending danger. He didn’t trust anyone here, and neither did she.

They were untouchable—but even in this world, threats could come from anywhere.

From the shadowed corner of the grand hall, a figure observed Taehyung and Jennie with a twisted smirk playing on his lips. His eyes, sharp and calculating, followed their every move as they mingled with the other mafia leaders, completely unaware of his presence.

He leaned against the wall, arms crossed, his gaze darkening as he whispered to himself, “So, Ruby… you’ve gotten close to the Dark Ravens' leader, huh?” His smirk grew wider, eyes narrowing as he watched Taehyung’s hand rest possessively on Jennie’s waist, a clear display of their closeness.

“At first, I just wanted to make you pay for disrespecting me,” he muttered, recalling the incident that had sparked his anger. “But now… now, this is even better.” His voice dripped with malicious intent as he realized the opportunity in front of him.

“If the infamous Ruby is so close to V…” He chuckled darkly. “I can use you, not to manipulate, but as a weakness. You’re tied to him now, and that means you're tied to the Dark Ravens. It would be a shame if something happened to you… and I bet that would shatter his perfect little world.”
