A Free Day

Jennie paced back and forth in her room, her mind swirling with thoughts. Mia's sudden appearance and the strange encounter they had earlier left her feeling uneasy. Something about the way Mia spoke to her, the veiled threats in her tone, and her obvious jealousy over Taehyung’s attention—it all gnawed at Jennie, making it hard for her to think of anything else. She had to know more, but a part of her hesitated. Was it really her place to ask? Did she even want to know the answers?

She paused in her pacing, taking a deep breath. "Whatever," she muttered to herself. "I'll do it."

With newfound resolve, Jennie made her way to Jisoo's room. Her heart pounded in her chest as she approached the door. She raised her hand to knock, hesitating for just a moment before rapping her knuckles against the wood.

“Come in,” came Jisoo's voice from inside.

Jennie opened the door slowly and stepped inside, finding Jisoo sitting on her bed with a book in her hands. She looked up and smiled warmly at Jennie. “Hey, what’s up?”

Jennie returned the smile, albeit a bit nervously, and took a seat at the edge of the bed. “I just wanted to talk… if you’re not too busy.”

Jisoo closed her book and set it aside, giving Jennie her full attention. “Not at all. What’s on your mind?”

Jennie bit her lip, trying to find the right words. She didn’t want to come off as too curious, but she needed to know more about Mia. “So… Mia. She seems… close to Taehyung.”

Jisoo raised an eyebrow, clearly catching on to what Jennie was getting at. “Yeah, she’s known Taehyung’s family for a while. Her mom and Taehyung’s mom are pretty close, so Mia’s been around a lot.”

Jennie nodded, trying to appear casual. “Do you know if… I mean, does she have feelings for him?”

Jisoo leaned back against the pillows, a thoughtful look crossing her face. “Well, it’s not exactly a secret. Mia’s always had a bit of a thing for Taehyung. She’s pretty vocal about it too, but Taehyung’s never really shown much interest in her that way. At least, not as far as I know.”

Jennie’s heart sank a little at that. She knew there was something between Taehyung and her, something special and unspoken, but hearing about Mia’s feelings made her feel a pang of doubt. “And Taehyung… he’s never liked her back?”

Jisoo shook her head, smiling reassuringly. “Nope. If he had, we’d all know by now. Taehyung’s not the type to hide his feelings when he really cares about someone.”

Jennie let out a breath she didn’t realize she was holding. “That’s… good to know.”

Jisoo tilted her head, watching Jennie closely. “You’re not worried about Mia, are you? Because you really shouldn’t be. Taehyung’s always been pretty clear about where he stands with her. He’s polite, but he’s not interested.”

Jennie forced a small smile, still processing everything. “It’s not that… I just wanted to understand their dynamic, I guess.”

Jisoo reached out and gave Jennie’s hand a gentle squeeze. “Don’t overthink it, Jennie. If there’s something between you and Taehyung, it’s not going to change because of Mia. Trust in what you have.”

Jennie nodded, feeling a little more at ease but still unsure of how to navigate the situation. “Thanks, unnie. I just needed to hear that.”

“Anytime,” Jisoo said with a grin. “And if Mia ever gives you any trouble, just let me know. We’ll deal with it together.”
