A NEW ENTRY

As they stepped into the mansion, the air felt lighter, as if the weight of the last few days had lifted just a little. Jennie walked ahead, her thoughts still swirling from the morning’s events. Distracted, she didn't notice the slight dip in the floor just beyond the doorway.

Her foot slipped, and for a brief, terrifying moment, she felt herself losing balance. Instinctively, she closed her eyes, bracing herself for the impact with the cold, hard floor. But instead of the harsh landing she expected, she felt something warm and solid.

Taehyung’s strong hands had wrapped around her waist, pulling her back up just in time. Jennie’s eyes flew open, and she found herself inches away from him. His breath was warm against her face, their bodies impossibly close. The world seemed to narrow down to just the two of them in that moment.

“Careful,” Taehyung murmured, his voice soft but laced with concern. His hands remained firmly around her waist, steadying her.

Jennie’s heart raced as she looked up at him, her cheeks flushing a delicate pink. She could feel the warmth radiating from his body, the steady rise and fall of his chest as he held her. For a second, it was as if time had stopped, and all that existed was the closeness they shared.

“I…I’m sorry,” Jennie whispered, her voice barely audible. She could feel her breath hitch as she spoke, the proximity overwhelming her senses.

“There’s nothing to be sorry about,” Taehyung replied, his gaze locked onto hers. His hands, still holding her waist, tightened just slightly, pulling her even closer. “I’ve got you.”

For a moment, neither of them moved. They stood there, frozen in each other’s presence, the unspoken tension between them thick in the air. Jennie could feel her heart pounding in her chest, each beat echoing the feelings she had been trying to push down for so long.

“Taehyung…” Jennie started, her voice trembling with the weight of her emotions.

But before she could continue, Taehyung gently lifted a hand to brush a stray lock of hair behind her ear, his touch sending shivers down her spine. “I’m here, Jennie,” he whispered, his voice filled with a tenderness that made her heart ache. “And I’m not going anywhere.”

He smiled warmly at her, and for a moment, the world around them seemed to fade away. Jennie’s heart swelled with emotions she hadn’t fully understood until now, and she found herself leaning into Taehyung's touch, her worries momentarily forgotten.

But just as she opened her mouth to speak, the intimate moment was abruptly interrupted by the sound of a sharp, feminine voice echoing through the hall. “What is going on here?”

Both Taehyung and Jennie turned their heads towards the source of the voice, their moment of closeness shattered. Standing in the doorway was a woman, her expression unreadable as she took in the scene before her.

As Mia’s voice echoed through the hallway, Taehyung’s warm smile faded, replaced by a look of surprise. He turned to see Mia standing there, her eyes sparkling with an enthusiasm that was a bit too eager for Jennie’s liking.

"Mia," Taehyung said, clearly taken aback. "What are you doing here?"

Mia stepped forward, her smile faltering slightly as she took in the scene before her. Jennie was still in Taehyung’s arms, and the closeness between them was undeniable. The sight of Taehyung holding Jennie so protectively caused a flicker of something darker to cross Mia’s face—jealousy.

"Your mom told me you were back, so I thought I’d drop by and see how you’re doing," Mia explained, her voice a touch too bright, her eyes narrowing slightly as they darted between Jennie and Taehyung. "It’s been so long."
