WRAPPED IN EACHOTHER'S ARMS

Jennie slowly blinked her eyes open, her body feeling heavy and sore. A sharp pain throbbed in her shoulder, making her wince as she tried to adjust herself in the bed. The room was dimly lit, a soft glow from the nearby lamp casting gentle shadows on the walls. Her thoughts were sluggish, memories of the fight coming back to her in fragments—her shoulder, the gunshot, the panic in Taehyung's voice.

She turned her head to the side, her breath catching when she saw Taehyung. He sat beside her, slumped in a chair, his arms crossed over his chest, as if he'd been watching over her the entire time. His face, usually so cold and composed, now looked exhausted, worry still etched across his features even in sleep.

Jennie’s heart softened at the sight of him. Despite the pain she felt, a small, gentle smile crept onto her lips as she watched him, thankful he had been there with her through everything. Slowly, she reached out, her hand trembling slightly from the soreness, and gently brushed her fingers against his arm.

“Taehyung…” she whispered softly, her voice barely audible.

At her touch, Taehyung stirred, his eyes fluttering open. His gaze immediately found hers, relief washing over his face the moment he realized she was awake.

As soon as Taehyung realized Jennie was awake, he shot up from his chair, his eyes wide with relief and concern. Without a second thought, he leaned forward, gently wrapping his arms around her fragile frame. His embrace was careful, mindful of her injured shoulder, but filled with an overwhelming need to feel her close.

"Jennie..." his voice cracked slightly, betraying the intense emotions he'd kept buried. "You scared me."

Jennie, though still in pain, felt a surge of warmth at his closeness. She leaned into him, burying her face in the crook of his neck, her breath warm against his skin. "I'm sorry," she whispered, her voice soft but sincere.

Taehyung pulled back slightly, just enough to cup her face with both hands. His thumb gently stroked her cheek as he searched her eyes, as if needing reassurance that she was really there, awake and safe. Without another word, he leaned in, capturing her lips in a tender, lingering kiss.

The kiss was gentle at first, filled with relief and love, but soon deepened, as if they both needed to feel the connection, to remind each other that they were alive and together. Taehyung’s lips moved over hers with a quiet desperation, conveying all the fear and love he’d felt since the moment she was hurt. Jennie’s hands reached up, her fingers tangling in his hair as she kissed him back with equal intensity.

When they finally pulled apart, both were breathing heavily, their foreheads resting together. "I’m never letting you out of my sight again," Taehyung whispered against her lips, his voice low and filled with emotion.

Jennie smiled weakly, still catching her breath. "I’m not going anywhere."

As Taehyung and Jennie shared that quiet moment, the sound of footsteps approaching broke through the stillness. The door creaked open, and Irene stepped in, followed by the other members. Their expressions shifted from worry to relief upon seeing Jennie awake and Taehyung by her side.

Irene, carrying her medical bag, walked up to Jennie with a kind but professional smile. "Good to see you awake, Jennie. How are you feeling?" she asked, her tone gentle.

Jennie shifted slightly, wincing as the pain in her shoulder flared. "Sore... but I’m okay," she replied, glancing at Taehyung who still had one arm around her waist protectively.

Irene nodded, placing her bag on the side table as she began examining Jennie’s injury. "It’s going to take a while to heal, but you’ll be fine. I’ll redress the wound and make sure there’s no infection."
