BUILDING A BOND

_____

Jennie sat in the training room, her thoughts swirling as she tried to make sense of her feelings. The room was dimly lit, the only light coming from the small lamps along the walls. She had been pushing herself hard, trying to forget the confrontation with Taehyung, but the memory lingered.

The door creaked open, and she looked up to see Taehyung standing there, his expression unreadable. He stepped inside, closing the door behind him softly.

"We need to talk," he said, his voice calm but firm.

Jennie stood up, wiping the sweat from her forehead. "What is it?" she asked, her tone guarded.

"I don't want us to be at odds, Ruby," Taehyung said, walking closer. "We need to trust each other if we're going to work together."

Jennie crossed her arms, her eyes narrowing slightly. "Trust goes both ways, Taehyung."

He nodded, stopping a few feet away from her. "I know. That's why I want to start over, if you're willing."

Jennie's stance softened slightly, and she sighed. "I'm willing to try."

"Good," Taehyung said with a small smile. "Let's take a break from all this for a bit. How about we grab a drink? Just the two of us."

Jennie hesitated, but then nodded. "Alright."

They left the training room and made their way to the mansion's kitchen. Taehyung poured them both a glass of water, and they sat at the counter in silence for a moment.

"So, why did you join the Dark Ravens?" Taehyung asked, breaking the silence.

Jennie took a sip of her water, thinking carefully. "I needed a place where I could use my skills and stay safe. And your gang... it seemed like the best option."

Taehyung nodded, understanding. "I see. You know, I wasn't always the leader of the Dark Ravens. It was something I had to grow into."

Jennie looked at him curiously. "What do you mean?"

Taehyung leaned back, his eyes distant. "I inherited this position after my father. He was a strict man, but he taught me a lot. Leading this gang... it comes with a lot of responsibilities and dangers."

Jennie felt a pang of sympathy for him. "It sounds tough."

"It is," Taehyung admitted. "But having people I can trust makes it easier."

Jennie nodded, feeling a connection form between them. "I understand. I've always worked alone, but... maybe it's time to change that."

Taehyung smiled, a genuine warmth in his eyes. "I'd like that."

As they continued to talk, the tension between them eased, replaced by a budding understanding and mutual respect. They shared stories, laughed softly at each other's experiences, and for the first time, Jennie felt a sense of belonging in the Dark Ravens.

Later, as they walked back towards their rooms, Jennie stumbled slightly on the staircase. Taehyung caught her arm, steadying her with a gentle grip. Their eyes met, and Jennie felt a spark of something she hadn't felt in a long time.

"Careful," Taehyung said softly, his voice filled with concern.

Jennie nodded, a small smile playing on her lips. "Thanks."

As they parted ways for the night, Jennie couldn't help but feel that something had changed. For the first time since joining the Dark Ravens, she felt a glimmer of hope, not just for her safety, but for a future where she could trust and be trusted in return.
