The sun is set and we have fallen into the familiar routine of eating squirrels by the fire , expect now I am not constantly looking over my shoulder because no walkers can get us inside these huge metal fences. It's crazy to think the first place I have felt safe in 6 months is literally a prison but then again it's hard to predict anything in this broken world.

I finish my squirrel as I toss aside the bones , the silence is broken by T-dog " Tomorrow we will get these bodies out ,keep them away from the water. Now if we can dig a canal under the fence , we'll have plenty of fresh water." A smile graces my face as Hershel joins in " This soil is good, we could plant some seed and grow some tomatoes, cucumbers, soybeans." My tummy rumbles as the thought of eating fresh food again .

I look to find my dad to see he is still walking around the perimeter " That's his third time around" I say and Hershel gives me a comforting smile as he replies" If there was any part comprised, he would of found it by now." And I nod in agreement before Beth suddenly grabs my hand " How are your nails still long and pretty !" She says astounded and I laugh at her confused , looking down at my hands " I guess they just grow fast" I say awkwardly. She sighs " That's so unfair"

" Hey I wish I could have your beautiful blonde hair" I say honestly and she smiles up at me " Really ?" And I nod " Well thank you but you suit your brown hair it's beautiful" and I smile at her as she gets a mischievous look in her bright blue eyes " Don't you think so Aaron?" She says and I immediately feel embarrassment flood over me as I hear Glenn try hold in his giggle as Maggie slaps him.

Greene looks up giving his little sister a playful glare before scanning my appearance up and down then locking on my eyes "she does suit brunette it matches her eyes" he says now avoiding eye contact . I am taken aback by his words " Was that a genuine compliment, Greene ?" I tease and he looks up at me " Don't push it , Grimes" he warns the fire lighting the glint in his eyes as he stares at me. Everyone laughs at his response and I give Beth a "what the hell" look and she just giggles.

"Bethy, sing Paddy Reilly for me. I haven't heard that , I think since your mother was alive " Hershel says and I feel Beth tense beside me as she looks down. "Daddy not that one please" Maggie replies the pain in her voice evident. I look at them in sympathy as I realise how lucky I am that my family is still alive. I then turn to look at Greene who is looking at Beth with a saddened expression " What about The Parting Glass" he says encouragingly.

" No one wants to hear" Beth replies and I grab her hand " I do" I say softly she looks at her family then back to me " okay" she gives in before she begins to sing. I smile as her pretty voice fills the field , I see my dad come over and Daryl and Carol too. Then Maggie joins in creating a harmony as we all sit listening, once they finish I clap obnoxiously in support and they all laugh " Beautiful" Hershel says.
