A/n: we're back baby!! After a little break I've decided to come back to writing this fic once more! Granted it's still alongside my gojo one currently, but now I've set certain days for each fic tk be written and have spaced em out so that I have breaks in between stories :) I'm so excited to get back to writing this! We're getting close to a chapter I've been wanting to write for a long time! So brace yourselves!! Thank you to all who were interested in this fanfic for being patient with me :)

She was ready.

Ready to get the truth one way or another from that pink haired idiot. She had a feeling deep down that there would be a possibility that he had been the one. But after their friendship had begun to blossom, she had hoped dearly that it could never and decided to shove it down inside of her in hopes the nagging would dwindle to a dull flame. It had for a short while, barely crossed her mind whenever they were together. She should have expected as much that the feeling had only been hiding its time, festering deep until it had the strength to become a torrent of flame that would be too loud for her to ignore any longer.

She needed to know. Needed to know if it was him.

A small part of her had hoped for the chance that Tanjiro had remembered wrongly, or Akaza had simply just been there at the wrong place and time. She desperately hoped for it.

She had come to cherish him as a friend, an odd feeling she thought she'd never experience. Becoming friends with a demon. Let alone the second upper moon demon. Yet each night she searched to see if he'd visit, every night she'd wait for him. Just so that the two may sit alongside one another and talk, or spar. Sparring had taken up a majority of their hangouts, the two would rush out to a nearby field and fight until the morning lights peeked over the tree line. She enjoyed that time with him though, and wished even sometimes that he might stay longer. She'd be willing to close off her room so the sunlight wouldn't peek in, if it meant spending more time with him she'd do it.

This feeling had puzzled her for a little while, still did on occasion, she had plenty other moments making friends and hanging out with them but the feelings she had felt seeing Akaza did not feel the same as her other friends. She shook the thoughts out of her mind as she reached for her katana, he was merely a good friend, nothing else. Couldn't be anything else.

She waited until the last bits of the sunset finished peaking over the wooded forest beside her home before leaving. With a soft click she locked her front door and made her way to their meeting place just outside of the wyseria protections. She could wait for him at her home, but if things would turn for the worse, it would be better for any damage to be dealt far from the head village. Not that she hoped it'd end in violence.

She gripped the hilt of her sword until her knuckles turned white.

Shaking her head she let out a long sigh. There had been multiple moments in their conversations that Akaza had mentioned that he'd never purposefully harm a woman. It was just part of his code. So even if their friendship were to end, she doubted that he'd purposefully harm her. If anything he'd probably scream and yell before dashing off. He seemed to have a habit of having a little temper, not that Nagano was innocent in that department, hers wasn't any better by a long shot.

She no longer held the thought in her mind that this sword would be for Akaza, but instead for any other demons that might lurk inside the shadows. She had hesitated for a brief moment thinking that it might be better to just turn around and leave it at home, but then what might happen to her if one by chance appeared in her path before or after their meetup. She couldn't risk it.
