a/n: took a short break, the writer's block curse had been hitting me rather hard these past few weeks. I will say, next week there will be no chapter update as I had to take on extra hours at work and will be having a 50 hour work week, and when I get home I won't have the energy to do any writing. After that, things should go back to normal! We're almost done!
After she and Giyu had pulled away from their long overdue embrace, she knew in that instance that it was good that they had done this. Any sensation of sadness that had been dwelling deep in her chest had finally begun to seep out, Nagano knew full well this wouldn't be something that could be healed with one talk, it would take time. But being here had been the first step into the right direction. She was happy that she had been able to see him, lucky even that he was even at the corp. They had been lucky he wasn't away on some sort of mission, and Nagano doubted that she'd be able to get Akaza to sit and wait for the days if not weeks that it might take for Giyu to return. Being here even now she could sense made him feel on edge. Not just because we were only a thousand feet off from the edge of the village, but being around Tanjiro had seemed to only add to Akaza's frustration.
Turning to look at the two, Nagano let out a heavy sigh. Much to what she had expected, the two of them had not looked away from one another. Their gazes hardened and stern. She could see the restraint in their eyes, knowing well that if it hadn't been for her request and promise for peace in this small moment, that the two of them would be nipping at each other's heels until one of them died. That much she appreciated. She'd have to thank Akaza later for his restraint, he had kept true to his word. Though this time would not last forever, they would need to leave soon. The last thing that she had wanted was to risk having Muzan look into either of their minds to see them talking so nonchalantly with other slayers and reap nothing from it. She was sure that he'd be lenient enough with it if it meant he benefited from the matter, either with secrets or a possible location where the Kamado Sister was at. And when the two of them would return without having either, death would be in their future. He had been lenient with the punishment with Akaza because in the end he benefited from it, there would be nothing he would benefit from for punishing them. Though perhaps, due to his fear of losing two more demons, he might. Nagano shook her head, that was a long unknown road that she dared not ponder down.
"Do you think you could come with us?" Giyu asked.
She watched in the corner of her eye as Akaza's attention snapped towards her, his eyes narrowed, waiting for her answer. Giving her brother a soft smile, she shook her head. "I can't."
"Is it because you think they'll dislike you or be against it?" Giyu tilted his head, "They grew to be ok with Nezuko."
"Because she proved to no longer be a threat to them," Nagano pointed out, "Like I said before, not only am I not a lower level demon, I am an upper moon. I am too much a risk. If I waltz in there unannounced, or at all, they'll raise their swords faster than they will listen. Right now is a stressful time, that much I can sense, everyone in there is on edge. Bringing me in would only worsen the situation."
Plus, she had no idea what might happen if she stepped into that village while having such a strong connection to Muzan, the last thing she wanted was to risk him either seeing its location or somehow controlling her actions causing her to kill nearly everyone.
"Plus," Nagano added while gesturing towards Akaza, "I want to stay with Akaza for now." She watched and waited to see what his reaction would be in the corner of her eye, she half expected an eye roll or a grunt, but instead, she found a look of surprise on his face. As if he expected her to turn tail and run to the other slayers and not remain with him. Had he expected that to happen all this time?
