a/n: sorry about the late update this time, got a nasty ear infection last Saturday and just wanted to do nothing but sleep. I'm better now thankfully \o/

He never strayed too far from her after that interaction, she didn't have to see it to know it, with every movement she had made for the remainder of the daylight held onto she could hear the softest of movements from him. Either his head had turned towards her, or the shuffling of his feet prepared to leap if the time needed. He was on edge. And he had every right to be, or at least that's what she had come to think after her little stunt. They hadn't talked afterwards, merely sat in silence as the sound of the awakened wildlife scattered about. That had been another thing she easily heard, the wildlife. Back when she had been a human, it had taken her years to strain her hearing to hear wildlife scampering far into the woods; back then it had been necessary for demon slayer training when the demons themselves could make themselves silent as the wind. Though now, she hardly needed to strain, she could easily hear it as if it were right next to her, she could be focusing on something else entirely, and still hear it clear as day. She would have to get used to it, she'd have no other choice, which had ruled out any chances of her going into high bustling cities once again until she had a better bearing over her hearing.

Though with the life she was forced to live now, what reason would she have to go out into the big city? She no longer needed to buy food, it wasn't as if they had stalls selling corpses lining the streets. Alive ones, while it disgusted her at the thought, she was sure they had them. With the entertainment district existing, there had to be some. Nagano shivered at the thought. Which in turn, caused Akaza's stiff form to turn to hers. His eyes unmoving from her, focused. If she had looked long enough, she could see the hint of worry in his eyes, an unwavering sense of concern. Though the emotions she had witnessed him expressing just a few hours earlier were no longer to be seen behind those eyes, for as soon as she promised to stay, he had quickly locked them away. Or what seemed to be like him locking them away. That part she never understood either.

Another thing that had crossed her mind over the hours had been the name he had called her during his fit of panic.

Koyuki.

Nagano looked away from the staring Akaza and instead focused on the floorboards beneath her feet as she thought to herself. Her eyebrows narrowed in focus the longer she had. She did not know the name off hand. Though a part of her deep down inside, a part that seemed like a small flicker in the dark, had felt like the name was familiar. She had recognized the sensation, how her chest had tightened at the mention of the name, for it had been the same tickling sensation that had arrived when her breathing style had changed only barely when fighting Doma. When she had felt the small touch of hands from no one on her arms right before her water form seemed to turn into ice. She scrunched her nose in frustration. Something was happening to her, to her mind, and she couldn't figure out what. And it frustrated her. It wasn't like she could ask anyone about it, if she had, surely they would look at her oddly and think herself mad. That's if she could find anyone that would speak to her as she was now. The only people Nagano had known as of recently that would be ok with talking to her in this form were three people. Two of which she wouldn't dare speak with. One especially. Muzan would have been the last person to speak to, hell, he was probably already aware of the torment inside of her mind if he could see everything she saw, and heard everything she spoke. If anything, if he truly did know about it all, he'd only use it for his selfish gains. To which she would do anything to not help with said endeavors. Even if that killed her. The other option had been Doma. Another shiver. After their conversation after her recent turn, Nagano had every desire to avert her attention from the sociopath. She felt he too was the wrong person to talk to about this, she doubted he'd understand anyhow.
