"Nagano!" Akaza's voice called out to her, but she did not stop, she continued down the long spiraling steps down into wherever, she did not care. She just wanted to get away from him. To be alone.

She balled her hands into fists until the piercing pain of her fingernails dug into her palms. She narrowed her eyes as she stormed down the steps. She had hoped that there would be some sort of sympathy, any sort of encouragement, anything. Her body and mind had just gone through a traumatic event, yet instead he had tried to defend her turning, that there would be benefits.. Without hesitation, her right hand flexed to the side punching through the wooden beams, the pillars groaned as she removed her hand, the very structure holding it together losing a portion of its support. Her head tilted in interest watching the wood of the pillar slowly pull itself back together, as if going back in time to a point when she hadn't broken it. The more she saw of this place, the more it had confused her.

"Nagano!" Akaza called out again, this time his voice was closer.

She did not move this time, it had felt like a fruitless effort. If she had gone this far expressing that she was ignoring him and he still followed, then it meant he wasn't going to stop. He was faster than her, so she couldn't outrun him. It was pointless. Turning on her heel, she faced him. She watched as she stepped down until the halfway point of the staircase, he was keeping his distance. Good, she had thought to herself.

"What do you want?" She finally asked. "Did you not take the hint that I might want to be left alone?"

He paused for a moment, his eyes scanning over the top of her head, searching for something to say. She could see the annoyance in his eyes forming, the tensing of his shoulders as he stood there. He wanted to shout, be angry, yet he held it back. She tilted her head at this; why hold back?

"I wanted to know why you left the way you did. Why you reacted that way." He finally replied, his voice tense and slow. He definitely was holding back. A small wave of temptation of an idea tickled the back of her mind. To see how deep she could get under his skin. Annoy him. Get revenge. She pushed away the thought.

"I was hoping you'd say something other than 'what's so bad about being a demon? Hey, at least you're stronger now. That's awesome right?" Nagano mocked while waving her arm around dramatically.

He narrowed his eyes, confused. "I've been a demon for several centuries now, I've never had any need for any sort of human emotions. They haven't benefited me."

"That's a lie, I've seen you angry and annoyed." She gestured towards the spot all of the moons had gathered just an hour or two ago with the tilt of her head.

"Yeah well, Doma deserves it." He grumbled.

"I will have to agree to that," She nodded, "Barely knew the man for five minutes and he already annoyed the hell out of me. Pretending the entire scenario of him nearly killing me hadn't existed. And the smile on his face," She shivered. "There's something off about him, mentally."

"Oh there's a whole lot wrong with him," Akaza amusedly agreed, his temper now washed off of him.

"I've also seen you express joy," She continued, "When we fought each other."

He nodded in agreement. "That is a newer one that has appeared, granted, the reason I hadn't had a need to feel that said emotion is that no one was ever truly worth my time to have me feel that way. You and the fire hashira were the only ones." he paused for a moment hesitantly. She could see him holding back, as if unsure if it was still too soon to talk about. She waved her hand dismissively at his tenseness and he relaxed.

"I've also seen you feel fear," she quietly replied. Her mind turned back to when she had felt the hot viscous blood run down her throat, seeing the look on his face as he stood forced to watch.
