Jocelyn sat cross-legged on her hotel bed, a tray of room service balanced on her lap. Dove, lounged beside her, absently scrolling through her phone.
"Can't believe they're in overtime," Jocelyn murmured, her eyes glued to the television screen.
Dove glanced up, her eyebrows raised. "Yeah, it's intense. Basketball players are so hot."
Jocelyn smirked. "You're telling me. Last night Paige and I almost—" She stopped abruptly as the game resumed.
"Shh! The game's back on!" Jocelyn said, turning her full attention to the screen.
Back on the court, the overtime period began with high tension. As Paige dribbled down the court, she was closely guarded by an Iowa player. Tempers flared when Paige elbowed the defender to create space, and the Iowa player retaliated with a shove. Ice quickly grabbed Paige, pulling her away from the other player.
Both teams were assessed technical fouls, resulting in the penalties canceling each other out. Geno, called a timeout, his face flushed with anger.
"Paige! What were you thinking?" Coach Auriemma yelled, his voice cutting through the noise. "You let your emotions get the better of you. We can't afford distractions like this!"
Paige's face turned red as she met Coach Auriemma's gaze, her own frustration simmering beneath the surface. "I was just trying to get us a chance, Coach."
"Well, it nearly cost us the game," Coach Auriemma snapped. "Get your head back in it. We need you focused."
As the final moments of overtime ticked away, Paige's concentration sharpened. She led the team with renewed intensity, directing her teammates and making crucial plays. With just seconds left, Paige drove to the basket and scored, securing the lead.
The arena erupted in cheers as the final buzzer sounded. Confetti rained down from the ceiling, and the triumphant notes of the fight song filled the air. Paige and her teammates celebrated, basking in the glory of their hard-fought victory.
The huskies were headed to the championships.
Jocelyn and Dove were ecstatic, jumping on the bed and yelling in celebration. The hotel room was filled with their joyous shouts and laughter, the room service tray long forgotten on the floor.
"We did it! I can't believe it!" Jocelyn exclaimed, her excitement infectious.
Dove was just as exuberant. "This is amazing! They totally deserve it!"
Their celebration was interrupted by the television screen switching to a post-game interview. Paige Bueckers, now wearing a championship shirt and hat, sat on a chair with her legs spread, breathing heavily. Her leg muscles flexed with every breath, and Jocelyn couldn't help but stare, captivated.
"You're drooling," Dove teased, nudging Jocelyn.
"Shut up," Jocelyn mumbled, not taking her eyes off the screen.
