Gold and purple confetti rained down from the ceiling. The UCONN players stood frozen, the reality of their loss settling heavily on their shoulders. Paige looked around at her teammates, seeing the pain and disappointment etched on their faces. They had given everything, but it hadn't been enough.

The LSU players celebrated wildly, their cheers and laughter a sharp contrast to the somber mood on the UCONN side. Paige took a deep breath, forcing herself to move. She joined the line to shake hands with the LSU players, offering congratulations through clenched teeth. It was the hardest thing she had ever done.

After the final handshake, the team jogged back to the locker room, heads bowed. The atmosphere inside was heavy with unspoken emotions. Players slumped onto benches, some burying their faces in their hands, others staring blankly at the floor. The sound of muffled sobs filled the room.

Geno entered, his face a mixture of pride and sorrow. He waited a moment, letting the silence stretch before he spoke.

"You have nothing to be ashamed of," he began, his voice steady. "You played your hearts out. You fought until the very end. Today wasn't our day, but that doesn't take away from everything you've accomplished this season."

He paused, his gaze moving to Aubrey, Paige, and Azzi. "Aubrey, Paige, Azzi. You've given everything to this program. I want you to know how proud I am of you. You've set an example for everyone here, and you've left a legacy that will be remembered."

Tears streamed down Paige's face. She looked around the room, seeing her teammates' tear-streaked faces. They had all worked so hard, and this was the end of an era for them.

"I'm sorry," Paige choked out, her voice breaking. "I wanted to win this for all of you. I feel like I let you down."

A chorus of reassurances rose up around her. "You didn't let us down, Paige," Azzi said, her voice firm despite the tears. "We did everything we could. We're a team, and we win and lose together."

Geno nodded, a sad smile on his face. "Azzi's right. You didn't let anyone down. This team has been a family, and we've faced everything together."

The room fell silent again, the weight of the loss settling heavily on them all. Paige couldn't take it anymore. She needed to get out, to breathe. She stood up and walked out of the locker room, the cool air of the hallway a stark contrast to the stifling heat of the locker room.

Outside, she leaned against the wall, taking deep breaths to steady herself. The disappointment was overwhelming, but she knew she had to keep moving forward.

In the celebrity section, Jocelyn and Dove were still in shock. They had been so sure that they would win. The loss felt surreal, and they struggled to process it.

"I can't believe they lost," Jocelyn said, her voice barely above a whisper.

Dove nodded, her usual bubbly demeanor subdued. "I know. They played so hard."
