It's been five years.

Five years since Jocelyn last spoke to Paige Bueckers. Five years since the whirlwind of fame and heartbreak that once defined her life faded into the background, replaced by something else—something simpler, but no less important.

Jocelyn sat on the front porch of their farmhouse, the golden light of early morning casting a soft glow over the sprawling fields. A warm breeze ruffled her hair, and the distant sound of farm animals stirred lazily in the background. It was peaceful out here, a far cry from the flashing lights and screaming fans that once surrounded her. She sipped her coffee slowly, savoring the quiet moment.

Her fingers brushed against the soft gold band on her left hand, the wedding ring Kate had given her three years ago. Jocelyn smiled to herself, turning the ring absently. Sometimes it was hard to believe how much had changed, how much she had changed. She looked out at the rolling hills in front of her, the place she now called home.

Married.

She was married.

It still felt surreal sometimes. The life she shared with Kate was far from the chaos of her past, far from the electric energy of arenas and concerts. Instead, it was sweet, domestic, and filled with the kind of love Jocelyn had once doubted she'd ever have.

The front door creaked open, and Kate stepped out, her blonde hair still damp from her shower, a warm smile lighting up her face as she walked over to Jocelyn. She was holding two mugs, steam rising from them, and handed one to her.

"Thought you might need a refill," Kate said, settling into the chair beside her.

Jocelyn smiled. "You know me too well." She took a sip, savoring the rich taste.

They sat in comfortable silence for a moment, enjoying the serenity that came with their quiet life on the farm. Kate glanced at Jocelyn, her eyes soft, filled with that same gentle affection that had been there for years.

"I've been thinking," Kate said, breaking the silence. "Maybe we should take a few days off. Just us. We could go somewhere, get away for a bit. We haven't had a break in a while."

Jocelyn raised an eyebrow, leaning back in her chair. "You? Wanting to take a break? I must be dreaming."

Kate chuckled softly, shaking her head. "Yeah, well, even I need to get away from basketball sometimes. Besides, it'd be nice to focus on... other things for a change."

She gave Jocelyn a meaningful look, and Jocelyn knew exactly what she was talking about. It had been a year since they'd started trying for a baby. A year of doctor visits, procedures, and hopeful waiting. So far, nothing had worked, and while they hadn't given up hope, it was starting to weigh on both of them. Kate was 30 now, and though Jocelyn was still only 25, they both knew time wasn't infinite.

"I think that sounds nice," Jocelyn said softly. "We could use a break."

Kate reached for her hand, their fingers interlacing. "I know it's been tough," she said, her voice low. "But we'll figure it out. One way or another. And when it happens... we'll be ready."
