| CHAPTER TWENTY; Targaryen Vs. Velaryon |
——————————————————————
FOR DAYS, RHAELYS HAD been ignoring Rogar. While she had usually made it a routine to have civil conversations with him, she seemingly decided that it was time for their meetings to come to an end?
Why? Rogar did not know.
But the Princess did. Sure, she was mad. But she knew that she could take this as a chance to manipulate Rogar into thinking that she cared for him. That she had grown to trust him. And in some ways, she did. But her feelings were not as important as politics.
As she sat silently in her room, sitting at her desk, staring off at the wall, Rogar took it upon himself to enter. He knew better— and yet, he could not bring himself to stop himself from stepping in.
She immediately knew that it was her protector, his snowy pale skin and hair as black as the night sky blowing whatever cover he may have held.
Rhaelys did not have to look at him to speak, pursing her lips before she said, "Was it your plan all along?" She suddenly spoke, catching him off guard.
"Princess— I—," He was silenced as her head whipped to the side to stare at him, eyes narrowed.
"With Aemond? Did you wish me to die?"
"No!" He'd defend himself without a thought, stepping further into the room as he allowed the doors to shut.
"Then why was that woman able to pull my hair? Was she hired?" She fired back, taking her stand off of her seat. Stepping away from her desk, toward her bed. "I have been more hospitable than he. You are but a pawn to him."
Rogar was silent, obviously embarrassed that it was so clear that he was Aemond's spy. Practically his loyal dog.
"Pathetic." She scoffed, forcing false tears to her eyes and feigning sadness as she looked to her feet. The room was silent, she looked up from under her eyelashes. Smirking slightly, she could tell that it was working. "You're supposed to protect me. Your King's most favored companion."
The guard hurried to stand beside Rhaelys, both now standing by her bed.
Just as the Hornwood boy would open his mouth to defend himself, Aemond burst in. The two immediately turned to look at him. The Prince Regent looked as smug as ever. "Oh. Did I interrupt the theatrics?" He spoke in a calm yet mocking tone as he stared at his Niece. "Feeling okay?" He questioned knowingly.
Both Rogar and Rhaelys stood, staring at the Prince that they were growing to despise so.
The small woman let out a grunt, taking large, harsh steps toward her older, white-haired kin. His eyes widened only slightly, not expecting her to become angered with him. But they did not widen in fear. It had seemed as though she was becoming an ally of his recently.
With each step forward she took, he took two steps back. And soon, she had driven him out of her room. She pushed him, leaving him to stumble backward. Almost tumbling over the ledge and down onto the stone of Maegor's Holdfast to his death.
Rhaelys knew that she could have died for that crime, but she couldn't bring herself to waste a thought about it.
Everyone that filled the Holdfast and halls paused, letting out mixes of gasps, yells, and whispers of what was taking place in front of them.
Aemond was embarrassed, lifting his hand and slapping her across the face. She tumbled to the ground in front of him, staring up at him with a bloody lip. He pouted, "I'm sorry." He lied with a small smile.
She shot forward from her spot on the ground, wrapping her hands around his ankle and pulling his leg out from under him. He fell to his ass, the girl letting out cackles as she set eyes on his face of embarrassment.
He jumped like a cat, straddling her and placing his hands on her neck. No one moved to help the brawling royals, knowing that their head or hands could be removed for touching someone of such importance.
He choked her, eyebrows furrowing. She gasped, eyes not scared but as hateful as they ever had been when looking at Aemond One Eye.
She brought her knee up to his cock, harshly stabbing her knee into his groin. He yelled deeply, in pain. Hands released her to clutch at himself. She took this chance to slam her small fist into his only eye.
She stood, ignoring his yells and curses aimed toward her.
She spat gooey blood down at his feet, "Is your eye okay?" She dared to say.
He was now the one to jump to his feet. But he did not advance forward. The two feuding kin staring, fire and blood mixing in this moment. There they stood, bloody and breathless.
"What a coward you are." Everyone was terrified, watching as Rhaelys dared to say this to a man twice her size. "Always hiding away like a conniving snake before you attack someone smaller than yourself." Aemond then snarled, shooting forward again but was held back by Rogar. "May we count the times?" She smiled cheekily.
"Watch your tongue, child." Aemond spoke lowly, bloody teeth on display. Fighting Rogar's unbelievably strong grip.
"It is always I who attacks in clear sight. Is it not?" She finished before ordering Rogar to take his hands off of the 'Prince Regent' as she put it.
It was now awkward as they stood silently, staring at each other as everyone watched them with no words to now be spoken.
"What?" Aemond would shout, shooting glares around at the nosy people staring. Everyone immediately turned their gazes away, continuing what they had originally been doing. In fear of the Prince Regent punishing them.
Rhaelys knew she had fucked her plans up, even if it was only barely. So? She did the only thing she knew to do.
"Aemond!" She'd cry out, once again forcing the false tears to return to her purple eyes. She walked forward quickly, hugging Aemond's waist as he looked down at her in shock.
His hands only hovered over her back. He knew she had been slightly emotional lately, especially after Rooks Rest. But this was overly dramatic and out of the blue. Especially after she had attacked him like a rabid beast would have.
And soon, as the touch-starved prince was held in her warm embrace, he came to a slight realization. Had all his work paid off? Was she truly now loyal to him? Already feeling guilty for attacking him, which Aemond knew was well deserved.
Well?
No.
