Part 25
The dimly lit restaurant buzzed with chatter and clinking silverware as Yuna, Wobin, Sooha, and her boyfriend lounged at their table, their laughter sharp and mocking. Wobin's eyes suddenly caught sight of a familiar figure across the room, and his lips curled into a smirk.
"Oh! Leeknow!" he announced, loud enough for nearby tables to hear.
Yuna rolled her eyes. "Why do you mention that boy's name?"
Sooha giggled, nudging her. "Look behind yourself."
Yuna turned—and there he was. Leeknow, dressed in the restaurant's uniform, meticulously wiping down a table. The sight made her snort.
"Woah! This is so funny," she laughed, exchanging glances with Wobin.
Wobin leaned back, arrogance dripping from his voice as he called out, "Garson!"
Suho, the owner, signaled Leeknow to attend to their table. When Leeknow approached, his expression remained neutral, though his grip on the notepad tightened slightly.
"Welcome. What would you like me to bring you?" he asked, his tone polite but distant.
Wobin smirked "Bring four coffees first"
Leeknow nodded and walked away, fully aware of the trouble brewing. When he returned with their drinks, Yuna deliberately knocked her cup over, sending hot coffee splashing onto his shirt.
"Ouch! I didn't see it," she said, her voice sickly sweet.
Leeknow didn't react, though the heat of the liquid seeped through the fabric.
Wobin sneered "My girlfriend apologized. Why don't you say anything, poor boy?"
Leeknow kept his voice steady. "Do you have any other requests?"
"No, Wobin scoffed. "Just disappear in front of me."
They finished their meal, their laughter growing louder with each passing minute. As they stood to leave, Yuna called Leeknow over one last time.
"I spilled coffee on your clothes," she said, smirking as she stuffed a wad of cash into his shirt pocket. "This is a value I think is much higher."
For a moment, Leeknow stood frozen, the humiliation sinking in as their laughter rang in his ears. Then, something inside him snapped.
As they walked out, noses high, Leeknow stormed after them, stopping Yuna in her tracks. He yanked the money from his pocket and held it up.
"I guess with this much money, you can buy yourself a little brain," he said coldly before throwing the bills directly in her face.
Wobin lunged forward, fists clenched, but Yuna grabbed his arm, her face burning with fury. "Forget it," she hissed, though her glare promised revenge.
Leeknow turned on his heel and walked back inside, his hands shaking—not from fear, but from the fire of defiance finally burning through his restraint.
The restaurant door swung shut behind him, leaving silence in its wake.
Two weeks had passed since the restaurant incident, and tensions still simmered beneath the surface.
In the physics experiment hall, students buzzed with post-exam relief. Yeji, the last to finish, bounced excitedly, gripping Leeknow's hand.
"Did you answer well?" Leeknow asked, grinning.
"Yes, yes!" Yeji cheered, jumping like a child.
Bangchan stretched "I guess we all did well. Let's have fun tonight!"
