Hyunjin's chest tightened as he took in Yuna's fragile form - her face pale and tear-streaked, lips chapped from crying. His vision blurred but he blinked hard, refusing to let his own tears fall.

"He left us... He lied..." The words tore from his throat like broken glass.
Yuna's eyelids fluttered open, revealing empty, hollow eyes that stared right through him. A choked sob escaped her as fresh tears spilled over.
"Lee...know?" Her whisper was barely audible, cracking on the last syllable.
Hyunjin's hands shook violently as he reached out, gently brushing her matted hair back from her damp forehead. 
"Does it... hurt any less?" His voice came out strangled, thick with unshed tears.
Yuna's fingers twisted in the sheets, knuckles turning white. "Where... is he?"
Hyunjin's jaw clenched until his teeth ached. He couldn't do this. Not yet.
"Should I get you something?" The cowardly deflection tasted bitter on his tongue.
Yuna suddenly grabbed his wrist with surprising strength. "Where is Leeknow?" Each word came sharper, more desperate.
Hyunjin stood so fast his chair toppled over. "You're shivering. I'll get you some water ." The lie burned as it left his lips.
"WHERE IS HE? PLEASE!" Yuna's voice shattered into a scream, nails digging into his arm hard enough to draw blood.
Hyunjin felt his resolve crumbling. "I'll...get you some food. Just wait." He turned away before she could see his face fall apart.
"Tell him... to come..." The plea followed him, clinging like a second skin.
A hot tear escaped before he could stop it. Then Yuna's icy fingers wrapped around his.
"PLEASE... bring him to me! I can't... I can't do this without him!" Her sobs turned violent, shaking the entire bed.
Hyunjin whirled around, voice breaking. "HE CAN'T COME!"
"WHY?" The scream tore from her raw throat.
"I'm leaving. I'll... be back." He was drowning, the room spinning.
Yuna's next words exploded like gunfire. "WAIT! HYUNJIN, WHERE IS HE? I NEED TO SEE HIM NOW!"
Something inside Hyunjin snapped. "HE'S GONE! FOREVER! HOW MANY TIMES?" The walls shook with his shout.
Yuna recoiled like she'd been slapped. "No... no, no, NO!" She thrashed wildly, sheets tangling around her legs. "HE PROMISED!"
Hyunjin lunged as she tried to stand, her IV line pulling taut. "YUNA, STOP! You'll hurt yourself!"
"LEEKNOW! COME BACK! PLEASE!" Her wails turned inhuman, guttural.
Hyunjin grabbed her shoulders, shaking hard. "HE'S DEAD! HE BROKE HIS PROMISE! HE'S NEVER COMING BACK!"
