Part 31

All students were supposed to gather at the designated spot by 9 AM sharp.
One by one, they arrived, each lugging oversized bags, the air thick with restless energy.

Leeknow stepped closer to Yeji, his voice dropping to a hushed plea "Please don't be like this, Yeji. He's a good person."

Yeji tilted her chin up, arms crossed tight over her chest. "I don't see why he even needs to come."

Leeknow's jaw tensed, his usual playfulness hardening into something sharper "He's a student, just like us. He has every right to be here. You don't know him at all—so back off."

Bangchan moved to stand beside them, his tone calm but firm "Yeji, Leeknow's right. Let's just respect Hyunjin, okay?"

Yeji scoffed, but before she could retort, her eyes flicked past them. A smirk curled her lips. "Oh, look. Your precious friend finally decided to show up."

Hyunjin lingered a few steps away, fingers twisting around the strap of his bag. His gaze darted between them, uncertainty written in the tight line of his shoulders.

Bangchan brightened instantly, waving him over with an easy grin "Hyunjin! Come here, brother!"

The warmth in Bangchan's voice seemed to ease something in the air. Leeknow exhaled, his shoulders relaxing as Hyunjin finally approached.

Hyunjin dipped his head slightly, voice quiet. "Good morning."

Leeknow grinned "Took you long enough. Morning to you too."

Han beamed, bouncing on his toes. "Seriously, I'm so glad you came!"

Hyunjin's lips quirked, just barely "Thanks."

Yeji abruptly turned away, her voice sickly sweet as she called out, "Yuna!" She all but skipped over, throwing her arms around the other girl in an exaggerated hug.

Yuna laughed, squeezing her back. "I missed you!"

Yeji pulled back just enough to shoot a pointed glance at Hyunjin. "Same. You're way better company than some people."

Hyunjin blinked. "You two... know each other?"

Yeji rolled her eyes "Obviously. And she's actually nice to be around."

Yuna's attention drifted past them, her gaze catching on Leeknow. For a second, she just stared, lips slightly parted—until Lia cleared her throat loudly beside her.

The teacher's sharp voice cut through the chatter. "Yuna! Eleventh line, now! We're leaving!"

Leeknow was the first on the bus, sprawling into a window seat. Hyunjin followed without hesitation, sliding in beside him.

Leeknow shot him a sideways glance, mischief sparking in his eyes. "First time slumming it with us commoners, rich boy? Hope you're ready for the chaos."

Hyunjin leaned back, his voice low and warm. "As long as you're here, it's fine."

Leeknow choked, his ears turning pink "Yah—don't just say things like that! How am I supposed to react?"

Hyunjin just smiled, small and private. "Then don't."

A beat of silence. Then Leeknow perked up, kicking Hyunjin's ankle lightly. "Oh! I quit the restaurant. Uncle Suho said I should focus on school, but don't worry—I'll still send you money."

Hyunjin's expression softened, something like relief flickering in his eyes. "Good. I hated you working those late shifts." A pause "And you can no longer force me to work with you"
