(Varykino, Naboo)

Late afternoon back at the lake retreat on Naboo, Anakin and Padmé were in the dining room. After having finished their dinner, they were being served dessert by Teckla and Nandi, which was being some kind of fruit.

"And when we got to them, we went into aggressive negotiations." Anakin was telling Padmé about one of his missions with Obi-Wan, before turning to Teckla who had placed a plate with fruit on it. "Thank you."

"'Aggressive negotiations'? What's that?" Padmé asked as Teckla walked out of the dining room to leave the two alone.

"Uh, well, negotiations with a lightsaber."

The two laughed at this, before Padmé took a fork and a knife and was about to start cutting the apple on her plate. Anakin suddenly lifted his hand up and lifted the apple off of her plate with the Force, bringing it to him and slowly lowering it on his empty plate, while Padmé looked amused.

"If Master Obi-Wan caught me doing this, he'd be very grumpy." Anakin said as he took a fork and a knife.

He cut a piece off the apple before he started levitating the cut piece in the air, then levitating it towards Padmé. She stabbed the piece with her fork and bit into it, while laughing slightly.

Sometime later, Anakin and Padmé were in the lodge, sitting next to each other on one of the two cmall couches, while the fire was blazing in the small fireplace by the wall.

"May i tell you something?" Anakin asked.

"I don't know." Padmé replied.

"Then how can i tell you?"

"Maybe you should use your Jedi intuition."

"It doesn't work around you. My mind is always a muddle... i can only think of you."

"Anakin, don't..."

There was a brief pause, as the two looked away from each other, until Anakin faced Padmé again.

"From the moment i met you, all those years ago, not a day has gone by when i haven't thought of you. And now that i'm with you again, i'm in agony." Anakin shook his head slightly. "The closer i get to you, the worse it gets. The thought of not being with you -- my mouth go dry. I feel dizzy. I can't breath. I'm haunted by the kiss that you should never have given me."

As Anakin kept talking, Padmé looked like she was having a struggle of her own. "My heart is beating, hoping that that kiss will not become a scar. You are in my very soul, tormenting me. What can i do? I will do anything that you ask."

Anakin finally fell into silence, seeing Padmé looking at him before she looked away, causing Anakin to look more in agony. "If you are suffering as much as i am, please, tell me."

"I can't." Padmé said quietly, looking Anakin into the eyes before shaking her head. "We can't. It's... just not possible."

"Anything is possible, Padmé. Listen to me."

Suddenly Padmé stood up from the couch and walking away from it. "No, you listen. We live in a real world. Come back to it. You're studying to becoma a Jedi. I'm -- I'm a senator. If you follow your thoughts through to conclusion, it'll take us to a place we cannot go, regardless of the way we feel about each other."

Anakin had been looking frustrated the entire time, until he heard the last thing Padmé said. "Then you do feel something! There's an extraordinary connection between us. You can't deny that."

"Ani, it doesn't make any difference. Jedi aren't allowed to marry. You swore an oath, remember? You'd be expelled from the Order. I will not let you give up your future for me."
