Leonor
A month had passed since we had returned home from the Switzerland trip. It was the end of October, nearing my birthday. I was going to be 19, another year in the books.
The weather was chilly and crisp in Madrid. What little trees there were began to shed their leaves and grow near, auburn colored ones. It was as if someone had painted the entire city in a bronze color.
Fall was sure beautiful.
My family was normal, in terms of events and public works. Sofia was still attending school, so even on the days when I was home, she wasn't there. Mother and father took us to at least one public event every week, which got me out of the house.
I spent most of my time reading or watching TV. Doing the boring things that I hadn't gotten to do much lately.
Gavi and I were still in very close contact. We texted every day, and said goodnight to each other every night. We weren't official, but with the words we had spoken to each other at the end of the trip, it felt like it was.
He was busy with soccer matches at least once a week, so some days I didn't message him at all. Instead, I messaged my friends.
Chloe and Gio were back in Germany. I hadn't seen them since the trip, but I had called Chloe a bunch to tell her all of the news about Gavi.
Hannah and Elena were home in Spain, visiting their parents. They had promised to come visit me soon, and I was happy to hear that.
It was a sunny Tuesday morning, and I was laying in my bedroom with a book in my lap. Sofia was at school, and my parents were at an important meeting all day. I had the house to myself.
My phone buzzed, and I picked it up off of the nightstand.
It was a message from Gavi. I blushed in excitement and opened it. It read:
Gavi💗: hey Leonor! Was wondering if you'd like to go out with my tonight to get drinks?
Gavi💗: I'm in Madrid this evening
Me: omg I would love to! What time and where?
Gavi💗: downtown at The Bar for 8?
Me: I'll be there!
Gavi💗: see you then princess 👑
I was getting ready in my bathroom when Sofia barged into my room. She didn't even knock on my bathroom door, and came stomping in.
"You get to go out tonight?" She scoffed, crossing her arms and leaning against the doorframe. I just stared at her through the mirror as I doused my cheeks in blush.
"Yeah, don't you?" I questioned. Even though she was happy to see me, our usual bickering had started the night I had come home from my trip.
"My friends asked me if I wanted to have dinner with them, and mother and father said no," she whined, and I laughed a little. Sofia was only 17; I could do much more than she could.
