I'll Be Better

Another Chance

A day later Ddot again found himself outside of Notti and DD's house. 

DD opened the door. "Hey." He smiled at him. "What are you doing here?"

"I gotta fix something."

"Like?"

"Doesn't matter." He says finally entering the house. He was so nervous.

"What do you need to fix that requires flowers?" DD asked amused, pointing at the bouquet of flowers.

Ddot ignores him and once again barges into Notti's room.

Notti is startled. "What is wrong with you? Stop doing that."

"I got you flowers." Ddot says holding them out to Notti.

Notti laughs. "You think I'm just gonna be like 'awww pretty flowers' and then just take them and forgive you?"

"I didn't expect you to, it's only a small part of the whole plan."

"There's more? Look, Darrian, I love you. I know that. You know that. And I know you love me, I don't doubt it at all. But I don't think you love me enough. You don't love me as much as I love you. That's not fair to me."

"I do love you, a lot. I was just confused."

"For how long?"

"Please let me prove it to you."

"Darrian, we've been through this before. Nothing ever changes."

"It will this time."

"Just like all the other times you told me that."

"I swear, Ethan, this time is different."

He scoffs. "Yeah, it is because I'm not gonna take you back. You can just leave."

Ddot knew he had to try harder. He needed a new plan. This one wasn't going to work.

"Okay." He said, setting the flowers down on Notti's bed. He started to walk away, but stopped in the doorway and turned. "I love you."

He gets no reply as he walks away.

At the end of the school day, Ddot goes up to Notti and hands him a basket. It had his favorite things in it.

"You keep giving me gifts like that's gonna make me say yes."

"There's more." Ddot says excitedly.

Notti looks deeper. He sees pictures from their first date, other special moments and just them together, cards and notes that he wrote to Ddot, saying how much he loved him, the jacket that he had returned, a shirt of Notti's that he let Ddot take, and the ring he gave Ddot.

After looking at all the objects and picked up a picture of them together laughing, feeling his eyes water. "Can we be like this again?"

"If you give me another chance, we can." Ddot says stepping closer.

"I want to, I do, but..." He trails off.

Ddot grabbed Notti's hand. "Come with me." He says dragging Notti, who doesn't resist away.

He takes him to a Burger King not far from the school. But it wasn't just any Burger King. It was the Burger King where they had their first date.

"Remember this?"

Notti laughs. "Yeah. You wouldn't just choose a place and got tired of me asking..."
