It is what it is

"It is what it is," I responded, looking Rex dead in the eye, "one thing isn't going to stop us from being friends."

He could see my point very clearly, but he did not appear to want to talk anymore. I looked down, almost making the mistake of leaving the room.

"Y/n, we require your strength," Tech said, after multiple tries to lift Wrecker with Hunter, Echo, and, whatever Omega could do, onto the medical machine.
I rolled my eyes, walked over, and easily lifted Wrecker onto the bed, "lift with your legs next time."

"You think I do not know that?" Tech arched one eyebrow.

I chuckled softly, "well, I certainly hope you do."

Tech gave me a tentative shoulder touch before I left the room. I moved to the room with all the damage from Wrecker; I found an opening in the ceiling, and used it to make my way up to the roof. I sat down up there, and looked up at the sky. The star for this planet appeared to be setting, but nothing I have seen in space ever seemed to compare to Earth's sunset.
I frowned, and curled up. I brought my knees to my chest, and wrapped my arms around them. I inhaled and exhaled deeply. I was still thinking about attacking Wrecker, and... Crosshair...
I was more frightened than actually confused, but I found it hard to accept that it was the way things are now. I really missed Crosshair now, and it was up to a point where it was almost as bad as my homesickness for Earth. Occasionally, but not very often, I would miss Earth. There was never much for me on there, but I am pretty sure the one thing I was missing was homemade food. Sure, the food that they give us in the republic... or did give us... was not poisoned or anything, or, typically did not give you indigestion, but I missed Earth food.

"You up here thinking again?" Echo said, walking up to me.

I looked up at him, and saw the bandage on his head, "I see that you did that operation fast."

"Yeah," Echo sat down, "after Wrecker, I was next. Hunter's going now, and then Tech. I may have to go back to operate the machine, but I wanted to make sure you were alright."

I sighed, "thanks Echo."

He gave me a funny look, "you miss Earth?"

"More than I usually do..." My voice trailed off, "I'm still thinking about what I had to do for Wrecker... and Crosshair."

Echo put his hand on my shoulder, "you miss Earth, I miss my brothers."

I nodded, "I wish you had more time with them..."

"But in that way, we can both say this," Echo said, "we made our choice. Didn't we?"

I nodded with a small smile, "yep, no going back now, but what about you? Do you want to go back with Rex?"

Echo sighed, "yes, I do, but I have called this squad home for a long time. I'd rather go with them, than without them."

I nodded, "at least we made enough of an impression on you that you require an actual decision."

Echo chuckled, "yeah, you remind me of a few of them you know, my brothers."

"Ah," I gave a smile, "that's why we're so close. Metal Arm Bro."

Echo rolled his eyes, "I see that nickname is starting to stick."

I chuckled maniacally, "Metal Arm Bro," I smirked at him, "we should probably return to the others."

"Feeling a little bit better now?" Echo stood up, brushing off some of his armor.

I nodded, "if I'm going to be completely honest, I miss food. Good ol' home cooked food."

Echo gave me a head shake, "only you would be homesick over food."

"What?" I shrugged, "when you try some of my cooking, you're going to change your mind."

"I'd make a bet if we had any Credits," Echo shrugged and leapt down into the shuttle.

"I have some useless Earth change!" I smiled as I walked after him.

"Echo, just in time," Hunter said, "we're about to do Tech."

"The only person who's going to do something is me," I smirked.

"That's not appropriate y/n," Hunter gave me a stern look.

"What does that mean?" Omega asked, "is it bad?"

"Actually," I started, but Hunter interrupted me, "just don't use it. Don't repeat what Y/n says."

"Unless it's really smart," Omega pointed her finger in the air.

"Oh. My. Gorsh..." I pointed, with a fake dramatic look and tone, to Omega, "the pointer finger in the air virus has got her. Tech final transmitted his virus, we're all in danger,"

Tech gave me an unamused frown, but Omega started laughing, "the only one in danger here is you!"

She jumped on me, and I fell backwards. Allowing her to feel like she was 'tackling me.'
"No! The agony!" I faked drama, laying a hand on my forehead with my palm to the ceiling, "stop this torture."

"Never!" Omega chuckled, "you shall remain prone to my power."

"Nooooooooo..." I fake gasped.

"Hey! You guys can't do that without me!" Wrecker said.

"No! The Omega has called upon the strongest one in her arsenal, I am doomed to fate," I said dramatically.

Wrecker chuckled, and instantly engaged. I could tell that Hunter and Echo were giving me a thankful glance, Tech was smirking, and Rex seemed a little puzzled. I could not tell what he was thinking, he was a little distracted.

"Alright you three," Hunter broke us up, "we have to... re-no... whatever, you know what."

"Oh c'mon, Grandpa," I sneered.

"Grandpa?" He adjusted his bandana and put his blaster down.

"Uh-oh he adjusted his bandana, we're in for it," I joked making a fake ready stance.

Hunter instantly swept Omega up into his arms, instigating her to escape. Although she laughed and was very playful about it, Hunter never let go.

"Alright soldiers," Echo smiled after a while, "we have some work to do."

Omega, Wrecker, and I gave an, "awwwww..."

Hunter put Omega down and began helping Echo with Tech. I winked to Wrecker and Omega, and started to operate the machine.

"Hey Y/n?" Wrecker tapped my shoulder, "about what happened... I already told Omega but, I tried to control it... I really did, but I just... couldn't. Make it. Stop. I know how much you-..."
I stopped him, "woah! Stop right there! It's all good Bro." I playfully nudged his shoulder, "we're still going to break shit when we're done with this."

"As long as it's not my equipment," Tech gave a distasteful frown.

Wrecker and I gave each other a look that read, 'we know what our next target is.'
"Mantell Mix later?" I asked.
"You don't even have to wait!" Wrecker gave me some, "Omega brought it."

"Yes," I ate it quickly, "let's go!"

"Alright, alright, alright," Hunter quieted us down, "let's just get this over with so we can get out of here."
