A black shadow suddenly jumped out of the woods and landed on her, she screamed and covered her eyes, anticipating the pain she knew would come. But waited she did and nothing happened and when she opened her eyes, she saw a big sliver fur wolf attacking the shadow. When the man’s corpse was lying on the dirty forest floor, the sliver wolf walked up to her, its red eyes glowing under the moonlight and just then, its mouth moved and it said, “Naomi, wake up.” She stared at it, not believing that it actually spoke but it suddenly lifted its gigantic paw and tapped her head, “wake up I said.”
And with that, she opened her eyes to see that she was in her classroom, sitting up, she came face to face with a beautiful set of green eyes and curly blonde hair. The owner of the eyes smiled, “you were really passed out.”
Naomi glanced around to see that the classroom was already empty except for her and Justin and she gulped and tucked her pitch-black hair behind her ear. “I’m sorry, I was just weak.”
“I didn’t see you eat during lunch, you hungry?” Justin asked, perching on her desk now.
Naomi shook her head, “I need to get home. Thanks for waking me up, Justin,” she smiled. It’s been three days since that encounter in the woods and ever since then, she was constantly seeing the sliver wolf in her dreams and in each dream, he was saving her from a black shadow that was in shape of her man. She doesn’t understand the dreams nor would she claim it as one of her visions, she hardly has visions about herself and besides, she still can’t understand what it would have to do with the wolf.
“Anytime,” Justin smiled and watched her as she packed her books. When she stood up, he stood up as well, “hey, I was wondering if you would be chanced this weekend, we can go to the amusement park if that is okay by you.”
Naomi glanced at him, “I’m sorry Justin, but I can’t go.”
“Hey,” he grabbed her hand, “you are not avoiding me, are you?”
“Of course not, why would you think that?”
“Because ever since we came back from the woods, you have seemed more isolated and I can’t help but feel like it was my fault.”
“And why would you think that?” she raised an eyebrow
“I kissed you,” he smiled sadly, “even though it seemed to me that you kissed me back that night but with the way you are behaving, I can’t help but feel like I had overstepped my boundary. I want to be close to you, Naomi, and honestly, I don’t know what else to do to make you see that.”
Naomi stared at him, she could see the sincerity in his eyes and by right, she should jump into his arms, after all, she had been crushing over him for as long as she could remember but she just can’t help but feel like something wasn’t right. “Close to me how, Justin?” she took a step closer to him.
Justin smiled, his green eyes twinkling, “close to you that you can run to me whenever you need someone to talk to and I will always be…” he was interrupted by the door opening and Stacy barged in.
“Well, well, well, Naomi, what a good game,” she said and stormed towards them, throwing a slap against Naomi’s cheek immediately.
“What the hell, Stacy,” Justin bellowed, “are you out of your mind?”
“No Justin, if anyone is out of their mind here, it’s you. Back in the party, everyone believed you are drunk but since then, not only have you been running after her like a lost puppy but you are constantly trying to get into her good books. Are you out of your mind? Or maybe you are blind?”
“Stacy, apologize.”
“I will never do that,” she said and turned to Naomi, “listen to my psychic, you better handle our deal accordingly otherwise, I will make your life a living hell. And as for you,” she turned to Justin, “I am pretty sure your dad won’t like me complaining to my dad about you or if you doubt it, we can have a try.” With that, she turned and stormed out of the room.
Justin stared at Naomi, his smile gone from his beautiful green eyes, “I’m sorry Naomi but I have to go, I will talk to you later, okay?” and with that, he went after Stacy. Naomi watched him leave with a frown on her face, this was new, why does it seem like Stacy have a leverage against Justin? That has never been the issue before or could something had happened that she was not aware of?
Shrugging, she followed them out of the classroom. Getting outside the school, she saw them beside Stacy’s car and Justin seemed to be furious with her but it was also obvious that he was helpless. He looked up then and their eyes met but he withdrew his gaze almost immediately while she caught sight of Stacy’s gloating eyes and smile. Ignoring them, she turned towards the direction of her house. The walk was long but it was one of the things she loved about going to school.
The street was bustling as people were rushing home and hoping to be in time for dinner. She sighed and she buried her gaze on her legs, staring at people’s shoes and avoiding them. She didn’t know how it happened or how she could have missed it but she suddenly bumped into someone. “Watch it,” a singsong voice called to her and she looked up to gaze at the most beautiful face she had ever seen. The lady had big brown eyes but her red hair seemed to be the most beautiful thing about her. Her slightly round face also added to her charm and she was dressed in a black leather jacket and black pants. “If I wasn’t fast, you would have knocked me down.”
“I’m sorry,” Naomi rushed to say, “I really didn’t see you.”
“Of course you didn’t, you weren’t looking,” the woman smiled and darted into the coffee shop beside them. She watched her through the glass wall and saw her sit in front of a man whose back was to her. She could make out his stature and with his big shoulders, she could tell he was huge and there would be no doubt that he would be tall as well, judging by how he could effortlessly lean over the table without even getting up and staring at what the red-haired woman was showing him. She sighed and turned to continue with her walk, bearing in mind not to bump into anyone again.
“That’s what I got,” Anita said and closed her piece of paper in her hand. Then glancing around she asked in a tone that only them could hear, “For Christ sake, Asher, why are we here?”
Asher sat up on his chair, his blue eyes scanning their surroundings. “Nothing, your dad said there were sighting of foreign wolves here so we are investigating it.”
“Is that all? Because it seems to me that I am the only one searching for the wolves and you seem to be searching for something else. What happened that night Asher, I can’t help but feel like something happened and you are not telling me.”
“You know me, Anita, if I am clear with it, I will be telling you first hand,” Asher said.
“But I can’t wait anymore. It’s not you to suggest first we come to the human realm. It’s not the first time they have been sighting of new wolves but you suddenly picked interest in this case and I can’t help but feel like it’s because it happened in the human realm. Tell me, Asher, you know you can always trust me to keep my mouth shut so, what happened that night. Did you meet someone?”
Asher deeply at her, “why would you think I met someone?”
“Because it’s obvious you are looking for someone. So tell, how does she look?”
Asher laughed, “and how did you know it was a girl?”
“Because I know you Asher, you will never search for a man,” she chuckled, “she must be a beauty if she was able to attract your interest so much. I have never seen you interested in humans Asher, so she must be the fairest of them all if she grabbed the attention of a beauty seeker like you.”
“Funny enough, she is not even beautiful, talk more of being drop dead gorgeous.”
Anita stared at him like she didn’t understand, “then why are you trying to find her? With the description you gave, she is the type you don’t even gift a second glance.”
Asher shrugged, “that’s the thing but there is something about her, I can’t just place my hand on it right now and I know that I can only understand it if I see her again or perhaps spend some time with her.”
“Then, how can we find her, what’s her name, age and give me a better description like height, hair color, eye color and the rest of them.”
“I vividly remember that he called her Naomi. She has really dark hair and hazel eyes, now, her eyes are beautiful, I know that for a fact. And she should be around seventeen or eighteen.”
“A teenager?”
“Yes.”
“Then why didn’t you say so,” Anita rolled her eyes, “everyone knows that there is only one place to find human teenagers: High school.”
