Larry paused and glanced at the corner of the room, he waited but the sound didn't come again but he wasn't a man to let things go easily and so he forgot about Naomi and went to check but nothing was there. However, he felt goosebumps rose on his skin, a clear evidence that something supernatural was on play. He walked back to his daughter that was now sitting on the bed and sobbing, and watching him. A trail of blood ran from the corner of her lips and seeing that, he felt sorry about his attitude immediately. He raised his hand to touch her but she avoided immediately, thinking he was going to hurt and that only made Larry hate himself the more.

"Naomi..." he called.

"I'm sorry," she cried. "I slept off forgetting I haven't made dinner, please don't hit me again, please."

"I won't."

"No," she cried, "I'm begging you."

"I said I won't," he said irritated now and she looked at him. Her eyes showed her fear and Larry sighed. He reached for her again and she cowered and that seemed to have got to him for no just reason and he forcefully grabbed her hand and pulled her to him. "Don't force me," he yelled and Naomi cried and hearing her cry, he got angry and slapped her again. "Why are you so difficult?" he raised his hand to hit her once more but a shadow coming from the window made him look but it was all in a blur because the next thing he knew, he was on the floor and something was pinning him down.

He groaned in pain with his eyes closed and when he heard the growling, he was forced to open his eyes and nearly had a heart attack when he saw the monster on top of him. The moonlight coming from the window made its fur look like it was glowing. The animal was big and it's face with long and sharp fangs were close to Larry's face, making him send a quick prayer to God because he knew he would be going to meet him soon.

He was afraid and it was obvious in the way he was staring at the snarling animal. And just as the animal's sharp teeth was going for his neck, he heard Naomi scream, "No" and the animal stopped and glanced at her. Using the distraction, Larry used his strength to push the animal from him. The animal glanced at him then and even though he was free from him, Larry knew he mustn't make any rash decision. He slowly got up to a kneeling position on the floor without taking his eyes off of the animal.

Asher watched him, he wanted to kill the man, he wanted to rip his head out of his body but he couldn't miss the fact that Naomi doesn't want him to do that. No matter what, it was obvious she cared for the useless man and he could only reign in his anger. One thing for a certain was that he wouldn't be leaving Naomi alone with the animal tonight and so he hopped on the bed, picked Naomi up on his back like he had done that night in the woods and jumped out of the window.

Larry felt his heart stop when the animal was out of his house and he waited for his breathing to calm down before getting up and rushing out of the room and down the stairs to get his tranquilizer gun and running out of the house. He fetched his phone from his pocket and dialed a number as he ran to the woods. "John, get the boys, I have got my eyes on one. He is the biggest of the monsters and he has my daughter. Come to the woods by my house immediately," and he hung up the call. One thing was for certain, he would not let that monster kill his daughter, not while he was still alive.

Asher didn't stop running, even though he knew it was impossible for the man to catch up to him but he was afraid. He hate to think that this was how Naomi has been living. He remembered the first time he saw her in school, the bruises she had tried so hard to hide with the makeup and he knew instantly that the damned man had made it a habit of hitting her. He was afraid for her, how she could have lived like that without telling a single soul. He was afraid that should he stop running, he would be turning back and going to kill the damned man.

He growled, fighting to control himself, he has never been this angry in his entire life, so angry that he was afraid of what he would do. He could feel the power forcing to come out of him, to take control but he could only growl and fight it, trying to stay focused. He was lost in his thought and it was only the sharp closing of iron teeth that brought him back. He stopped running then and looked down to see that he had stepped into a trap. He was so angry that despite seeing the blood coating the trap, he still couldn't feel a damned pain.

"Oh my God," he heard Naomi exclaimed and she was getting down from his back before he could stop her. She went to behind him and squatted beside his wounded limb. She gently caressed it as a lone tear trailed down her cheek before she looked up at him. "I'm sorry."

The tone of her voice and the regret laced in it was like a bucket of iced water washing over him and all his initial anger was instantly forgotten as he stared at her. "I didn't mean for this to happen and I am so sorry that this have to happen because of me."

Asher wanted to tell her that it was okay when he felt the pain like spasm traveling up his leg and he knew instantly that the trap was poisoned. Fuck.

Noami sniffled and turned to the wounded limb and tried to pry the teeth open but it was hard. She turned around and picked the stick nearest to her and tried using it but the stick only snapped with half of it flying away in speed. Naomi grunted in annoyance and turned to look at the animal but she noticed instantly that something was wrong. It was looking weak for some reason. She forgot about the trap and rushed to it, touching it's face. "Does it hurt that much?" she whispered.

The wolf's red eyes glanced at her and she stared back. At that moment, it was like she could see it's soul and with that, she could see the boy it was. "Asher," she whispered, her eyes not leaving his, "it's you isn't it?"

Asher sighed in his mind, this wasn't the way he had hoped to tell her, but it's not like he told her, she figured it out on her own. His only response to her question was rubbing his big head on her body and he didn't know if he imagined it but he thought he heard her giggle. "No wonder you felt familiar," she said but her voice was turning faint that it was almost hard to hear her. What the hell is in that trap? He wondered.

"Whoa," Naomi gasped when it seemed like the wolf was collapsing on her. "Asher, hey, are you okay? Is it that painful? Are you losing too much blood that you are weak?" she asked series of question but no respons came from the animal and she started panicking. "Can you change? It might be easier to pry the teeth open if you change."

Asher heard her and in as much he wouldn't want to be naked in front of her, that wasn't the only reason he wasn't changing. In his wolf form, the poison would travel slowly and so should he shift, it would travel up faster and he has no idea what it was and what damage it could leave on him. He replied by placing his head gently on the forest floor. As he did, he heard the footsteps and his head sprang up immediately and he growled.

Naomi was surprised, he was acting weak a while ago and suddenly he is okay? She couldn't comprehend what was happening until she heard it; the orders being given by the one voice she doesn't want to hear now. "Follow east, I will go west," Larry barked and Naomi could feel the fear trying to consume her and she wondered of what to do.

Knowing he would be too weak to take them plus the fact that he can't kill them because of Naomi, Asher did the first thing that came to mind. He placed his paw on Naomi's hand and teleported.
