Asher opened his eyes. He was surprised at where he was. The room was dark but the darkness was not a problem to him. The room looked shabby, not even an average compared to any room he had ever slept in and he wondered where it could be. He sat up on the bed and pressed his temple to die down the headache he was having. A gentle breeze blew into the room, calming him and he glanced at the window to discover that the window was open and the moonlight was sipping in through the curtain. He tried to climb out of the bed and froze for that was when he saw it, the girl asleep on the rocking chair at the far end of the room.
He blinked as even though the girl was far from the bed and was shrouded in darkness, he saw her face and he knew who she was. At the moment, it seemed like his nose had woken up because the scent filled him up. Everywhere smelt like her, the bed, the air around and it wasn't hard figuring out that he was in her room. He climbed out of the bed and went to her. He squatted in front of her and stared at her, she looked so peaceful in her sleep, just like the peaceful sleep he woke up from. He can't remember the last time he was not woken up forcefully by a nightmare. Remembering the fight earlier in the evening, he knew he was exposed. There was no way he could deny what happened and how he had fought that thing with superhuman strength. He knew he would be tasked to explain himself once she opens her eyes.
Remembering his car that he had ruined, he groaned softly and went to the window, he peeked out of it at the forest, everywhere was calm and silent but he knew better. A few miles into that woods and one would come upon a whole different world that they might take days to understand or comprehend. Without thinking, he leapt out of the window and landed effortlessly on the ground. He walked to the front yard and there was his ruined car, guess he would have to get another one now. Placing his hand on the car's bumper, he teleported and appeared in front of his manor. The house was quiet which meant no one was there and that is to say that Anita wasn't back from the pack.
He went into the house, everywhere was dark but he didn't bother with turning on the lights. He just needs to make sure that everything was okay before going back to Naomi. The last thing he would want is her waking up to see him gone. In as much as he knew she would bombard him with questions and he would have no choice but to answer truthfully, he still doesn't want to avoid her, maybe telling her the truth would help him in figuring out why he can't compel her. He went up the stairs to his room to take a shower and put on a new clothe but as he stepped into his room, he paused, something didn't feel right.
He closed the door, tapping into all his powers as he used them to search around the room to feel for a presence. There was no new scent or foreign scent but he can't fight off the feeling that someone was there. It wasn't his father for he always identifies him. It was someone else, but who?
"Who is there?" he asked, his voice soft but dangerous as he waited and listened for the faintest of sounds, even breathing. "If you are here then you don't know who you are up against. I am more dangerous than my father," he added his warning with a dangerous tone.
The room was silent and soon, a violent breeze blew into the room, scattering everywhere and making the windows clanked as they opened and closed. Papers flew up in air and Asher closed his eyes but he heard it, loud and clear; "soon, you will be mine," and everywhere stilled.
Asher opened his eyes as he looked at his ruined room, everywhere was still and quiet but the voice and words were still echoing in the room and in his mind. He glanced at his hands to see the black lines and his claws elongated without his command. He tried to control them but they just kept growing and then his hands started sizzling and smoking. He was shaking as he started panting, it was obvious he was in pains and then it was like he zoned out as he saw himself with black eyes ruining everywhere and controlling smoke like people, just like the creature he had fought in the evening. He screamed and knelt on the floor and just like it had come, the vision vanished.
Asher was whimpering on the floor and when he finally mustered up the courage to look at himself, his claws had gone back in and his hands were normal. No black line, no smoke and definitely no sizzling sound and pain. He sat on the floor, still whimpering as he glanced at the open window. He quickly stood up and rushed to it, closing it before sitting back on his bed. This was the first time he was experiencing this. Sure, sometimes, he woke up from nightmare to see his hands covered in black lines but this was the first time his claws were growing without him summoning it and also to see a vision of himself bringing chaos and destruction.
He couldn't understand why it had happened but he knew one thing for a fact, he needs to see his aunt Irene and he wondered when she would back. He glanced around the room and for the first time since growing into an adult, he was afraid of being alone in a room and so he quickly rushed into the bathroom and had a shower. Dressing up, he didn't waste a time and teleported to Naomi's room, the only place he knew he would have peace.
She was still sleeping on the rocking chair and he felt bad leaving her there. He reached forward and caressed her face and he wondered why he was doing that. Yes, he was attracted to her and that was only because she brings him peace, naturally, she was not his type of woman and also, the fact that she was a human ruined every chances of them being a thing. He would love to find his mate, no matter how unaffected he acts or whatever he tells his father, he wants to find his mate, he longs to be with her and share the world with her and that was something nobody can change. Not even a human who happens to bring him peace and sees vision. And at the thought of that, he figured another reason he would need to see his aunt Irene.
There is something about Naomi that no one knows, not even her and to figure it out, he would need to stage a meeting between the two of them. Sighing, he picked Naomi up gently not to wake her up and carried her to the bed. As he laid her down, he heard someone on the front door and paused. The door slammed shut, signaling the person was inside the house but he didn't need to worry, he recognized the smell. It was the wolf hunter.
He heard the heavy boots of the man walking around downstairs and he had a crazy idea of what the man would do if he sees a wolf in his house? However, he doesn't know who the man was to Naomi yet and he wouldn't like to hurt him without figuring how important he was to her. He soon heard the boots coming up the stairs and he quickly withdrew to the darkest side of the room, hiding himself in plain sight. Soon, the door was thrown up and the man barged in.
"Naomi!" He yelled and the girl sleeping on the bed jumped up in a scare. She sat on the bed, staring at the man in her room before she gasped in fear as she started looking around the room as if she was searching for something. "Where is my food?" Larry thundered and the way he spoke to her made Asher frown but he did nothing.
As if recalling something, Naomi gasped and stared at her father. The fear was very clear in her eyes at what he would do to her. She had been so worried about Asher that she fell asleep watching him. She doesn't even know how she got in bed because she knew she was sitting on the chair and had fallen asleep. She brought her hands in front of her like she was praying as she gazed at her father in fear.
"Where is my food you little wench?" Larry asked annoyed, with her attitude, he already knew she didn't make anything for him and that fact alone got on his nerves and he went to her and slapped her hard. The slap was so hard that Naomi fell on the bed and Larry raised his hand to hit her again but then he heard it, a low but dangerous growl, right in the room.
