“Oh, you are done early,” Aliyah sad, sipping her juice and placing it on the table beside her, “nothing serious?” she glanced up at her son who had joined her.
Asher bit his lips and glanced away from her, thinking of how to phrase his words and approach her without her exploding on him. “Actually, what I wanted to talk to dad about, he said it would be best if I talked to you first.”
“Oh,” Aliyah replied, her face turning serious as she sat up on the chaise longue she had been relaxing on. “Okay then, what is it?”
Asher nodded and took the sofa opposite her. “As you know, the unknown wolves had made appearance in the human realm. Anita and I are already on their case but so far, we haven’t gotten something concrete on them.”
“Okay,” Aliyah nodded, wondering why she had to be the best judge to that piece of news. “I’m assuming, there is more?” she raised an eyebrow.
“Yes, that is what I want to talk to you about. The thing is, if we hadn’t rushed from here to there, we wouldn’t have missed them so, Anita and I have been thinking,” he cleared his throat, knowing that if Anita was there, she would have glared him to hell and back, “that it would be best if we temporarily reside in human realm, just,” he hurriedly added when Aliyah’s eyes went wild and she was obviously going to reject, “for the main time. At least, if they are to show up again while we are still there, it would be easier to pick up their scent and follow them.”
“Asher, your plan is flawless, so I will talk to your dad. We would choose the best werewolf and demons to head over to the human realm and temporarily reside there.”
“Why choose another people? Anita and I can easily handle this.”
“As a matter of fact, that is indeed true but Asher, there is no way I am allowing you to live in the human realm and far from your father.”
“Mom, I am twenty-five years old.”
“I know,” Aliyah smiled, “but I am never letting you out of your father’s side for so long. What if something happen out there, what if you are attacked, how can you fend for yourself?”
“Mom, you seem to be forgetting something. I am the strongest creature out there. Nothing is as scary as me so tell me, what is going to attack me that I can’t fend for myself?”
“Um hello, Catherine? The psycho witch who have been after you since you were little?” Aliyah stared at him with a ‘duh’ hanging loosely on her lips.
“Mom, she hasn’t even made an appearance for the past twenty years.”
“Exactly. No one knows when she would make an appearance, no one knows when she would suddenly show up and Selene help us if your father happened not to be with you. Asher, I have still not forgotten how easily she would have taken you had your father not show up twenty years ago. I can’t take any chances, Asher, and the human realm, our signals are relatively weak there. To pass a connection from the human realm to here is practically impossible, how can we know when you are in trouble?”
Asher sighed and went to her, squatting in front of her that she cupped his cheeks. He looked deeply into her bright blue eyes. “Have you forgotten that Hephzibah had made a charm that would alert dad if I suffer any injustice? The problem is that we have never gotten the chance to test it and see how it works because I have never suffered injustice. Please mom, recently I have been pretty bored in these woods, it would be okay if I have a little excitement, don’t you think?”
“Sweetheart, you know I am not against you having fun, but having you stay away from your father isn’t…”
“Mom, have a little fate in me, would you? I am not a weakling. Catherine was able to get to me those years ago because I was still a child, I am not so gullible now. I will be fine.” He placed his hands on hers that were resting on his cheeks. “I will be fine, I promise you, just trust me, okay?”
“Asher,” Aliyah sighed, showing her reluctance.
“Mom, please,” he smiled, “and to think, there is a young girl there that have seriously caught my attention.”
Aliyah rolled her eyes, “every beauty gets your attention.”
“But that’s the thing mom, she is not a beauty and it’s different from other girls. With her, I am filled with the vigor to protect and shield her from harm.”
With that, Aliyah stared at him, “you are not residing in the human realm because of the wolves, right?”
“Alright, you caught me,” he chuckled and stood up. Aliyah’s eyes were shining with delight and he laughed softly at that, “just give me time to get to know her please, and possibly figure out what this feeling is.”
“That’s good, I mean, with the blood moon coming up in three months, we have to be prepared,” she clapped her hands excitedly and stood up. Sighing, she grabbed his hand, “promise me you would be safe?”
“I promise,” he smiled and kissed her forehead.
“Mm mm,” Aliyah shook her head, “I’m the one that does that,” and with that, she grabbed his neck and pulled his head down, deriving a chuckle from him as she kissed his forehead.
“I can see that you successfully convinced her without losing your head,” a voice said and they both turned to see Edward standing by the door in his kingly robe. “At least, it’s better it came from you than me.” He approached them.
Aliyah chuckled at that, “oh come on, if I kill you, who is going to be my mate then?” she raised an eyebrow.
“As a matter of fact, a lot of males can’t wait to take you in. But they are in luck, I don’t know them yet because if I do, I won’t even be waiting for them to make a move before burning them into ashes and reaping them the chance of ever reincarnating.”
Aliyah shook her head with a sigh, while wrapping her hands on his neck, “it’s always kill and kill with you. You would never change.”
“Of course, you are mine and anyone that dares to just wish they could be with you is already a sinner in my eyes and can’t be kept alive.” Edward replied, wrapping his hands on her waist and pulling her in closer. “In this world, you are stuck with me, Queen Aliyah.”
“Only this world?” Aliyah raised an eyebrow.
“Yes, because we are going to live forever, so they won’t be next world,” and with that, he kissed her.
“And that is my ticket to leave,” Asher said but the kissing couple ignored him and he could only sigh and excuse himself. Not that they cared if he stayed or not.
He dropped by at the treasury and grabbed some gold bars, seriously, he still doesn’t understand where his father got so much wealth from. He teleported to his room and packed a few of his clothes in a backpack before leaving the house. He searched for Anita in the mind link but couldn’t get to her and it only means that she was still in the human realm. He contemplated shifting but changed his mind, he contemplated teleporting but, he doesn’t know how humans would react if someone just materialized in front of them and so, strapping his backpack on his shoulder, his eyes flashed red before he sprinted into the woods. Approaching the human woods, he made a detour and ran straight to the little house he had seen earlier in the day.
He was almost to the house when he perceived the scent and stopped. His eyes glowing soft red as he sniffed around and soon enough, he picked up the scent. He frowned, wondering what she could be doing in the woods at that time of the night as he placed his backpack under a pine tree and started undressing. Guess, he was going to shift after all. Taking his wolf form, he followed the scent and sure enough, he saw her resting under a tree with her eyes closed. She couldn’t have fallen asleep right there, could she? Like, doesn’t she hear the stories of the night creatures? Surely, she must have heard about vampires, right?
He gently approached her while also raising his aura and keeping away potential threat. He was already closed enough to her when suddenly, her eyes flashed open and she held his gaze. He could see his reflection in her eyes, his fur glowing softly under the moonlight and his eyes a bloodshot red. He waited, wanting to know her reaction when she smiled softly and said, “it’s you.”
