During lunch, Anita sat with Asher in a table, she could tell by how the students were staring at them that they would love to join them, even compete for it but the dangerous arura emanating from Asher was keeping them away. Even she was surprised at why he had frightened them off with his demon aura. She means, he agreed to come to their school after all, and he should know very well that with his looks, it would be hard to keep humans away from him, especially the female species.
“So,” she began, taking a bite of her pizza slice, “have you found her yet?” she asked in a tone that only them could hear. With a nod from Asher, a smile lit up on her face, “I knew she would be here, see, if you had told me earlier, we would not have spent the three days wandering around in the human realm.”
“We had other purpose,” Asher said.
“Yeah, yeah,” she rolled her eyes, “anything that would keep you from admitting that you needed my help and it was my professionalism that leads to you finding your missing rip.”
“She is not my mate,” Asher said.
“Oh, then by all means, Prince Asher, can you tell me why we have to register into human high school and pretend to be teenagers when we are old enough to be their teachers?”
“I told you, I don’t know yet, I’m still trying to figure it out.”
“Ah, whatever,” Anita rolled her eyes, sipping her orange juice as her eyes went to the doors and she saw someone enter. She gasped immediately as her face lit up, “you,” she screamed, bringing every one’s attention to her and they all followed her gaze to see the shocked Naomi standing by the door and staring at Anita.
Naomi couldn’t believe her eyes, what was the gorgeous lady of yesterday doing in her school? Before she could arrive at an answer, Anita had approached her already, all smile. “Hi,” she said softly.
“I never thought I would see you again,” Anita laughed, “come, come sit with us, I would like to get to know you now that we are in the same school after all.” And with that, she grabbed her hand and pulled her to her table while Naomi could feel the glares of the popular girls in school.
Asher had been slightly stunned when he heard Anita exclaimed but when he turned his head and saw who she was referring to, he couldn’t believe his eyes. As they walked up to him, his eyes remained on the girl. Her hoodie’s hood was down, letting her black hair mess around her shoulders. She still had on those big glasses and he could easily see that she had retouched her makeup but it didn’t hide the purple bruise from his eyes and once more, he felt the urge to kill. Even he was surprised at why he was so protective of her, it was the same that faithful night he had seen her for the first time.
“Asher, guess who I found here,” Anita said, sitting down and forcing Naomi to sit beside her. “She had bumped into me yesterday and I honestly don’t know why I was fond of her but you were waiting for me so I couldn’t chat with her very well yesterday and now, I just found out that we are in the same school, I think it’s fate,” she chuckled.
From her words, Naomi quickly understood that Asher was the person she saw her with in the cafeteria, so she was given the opportunity to see the face of that huge and tall man or now, she should say boy, after all, he didn’t look older than eighteen. Their eyes met and she quickly looked away. She can’t name it but there was that feeling again, like she had seen him before.
“So, we meet again,” Asher said, his gaze not shifting from the girl, even for a second.
“What?” Anita was shocked and quickly turned to Asher, asking in the mind link, ‘she is the one?’
‘Yes’ Asher replied in the link, his gaze still on the girl. Now having her sit in front of him, it was as if he had gone back to that night when she touching his furs, giving him the peace he had not felt again since he was five. His hand itched to touch hers, wanting to know if a direct contact with her would bring him the same peace once more but he knew better, he shouldn’t be rash.
“Naomi,” a voice called, breaking his thought and he internally stiffened, he would know that voice anywhere, it was the same voice that broke the enchantment that night. He slightly looked up, his demon annoyed and he had to fight to keep his eyes color from changing, the last thing he wants was to announce to everyone that he was different on his first day in school. His gaze landed on Justin who was walking to them. He had been wondering where the boy was since he hadn’t seen him but he never expected that seeing him would be when he had Naomi close again.
“Justin,” Naomi said and stood up, watching him as he came.
Justin glanced from her to Asher and then back at her, “why are you sitting here?”
“Oh,” she smiled, “yesterday I had bumped into…” she paused and turned to Anita, “I don’t know your name.”
“Anita,” Anita said with a smile, her eyes going from Justin to Asher while she heightened her senses around Asher in order to know when he would be reacting and hopefully would be able to stop him before he murder the whole school.
“Yes, so we didn’t talk much and now, we realized that we are in the same school. She then invited me to join her table. They are new,” she smiled.
“I know,” Justin said, his eyes going back to Asher who was just staring at him, but for some reason, he could feel that he could look into his soul and he didn’t like the feeling one bit. “Well, you don’t have to sit here anymore, you can sit with me.”
“Excuse me, did I hear you correctly. You said you would be sitting with me, remember?” Stacy who had entered right after him, said, her eyes glaring daggers at Naomi.
“Calm down, Stacy, we can all sit together,” Justin said.
“Like hell, I am not sitting with her, Justin.”
“I’m sorry, Justin, but I think I would prefer staying here,” Naomi said, remembering what happened yesterday and the last thing she wants was the whole school to see how quickly he can dump her because of Stacy.
“No, you are sitting with me,” Justin insisted and grabbed her hand to pull her away.
“The lady wants to stay,” Asher said, his voice was soft and velvet but somehow, it slammed into the chest of everyone who heard it. “And with my upbringing, you shouldn’t force a woman to do what she doesn’t want to do.”
Justin turned to him fully then, not letting go of Naomi’s hand. “You are new, so I won’t mind since you obviously don’t know. Naomi and I grew up together so I know her better than everyone and there is no reason she wouldn’t want to sit with me. So, since you are new, I would advice you not to butt in.”
Asher ignored him and his gaze went to Naomi, “do you want to stay with him or do you want to stay here and chat with my sister?”
Anita relaxed in her chair, waiting to watch a good show and also surprised at why Asher was reacting. The Asher she knows would not even gift a girl like Naomi a second glance neither would he speak up for her but now, he not only came to find her in High School, he is also dealing with potential rivals, how interesting.
Naomi glanced at him and then at Justin, “um…I just want to sit down and have lunch, it doesn’t matter where I stay,” she shook her head, smiling awkwardly. She would love to sit with Justin, obviously but Stacy had already refused to stay with her and she knows that if she whines even more that Justin would abandon her for her sake. Her reputation was already bad enough and she doesn’t want to add rejection to it.
“Fine,” Asher said, his gaze going to Justin then, “if you can get your girlfriend to agree to sit with her, then I would let her go with you.”
Justin picked on what he said immediately and quickly replied, “she is not my girlfriend, I don’t have a girlfriend.”
“Justin,” Stacy called, “I am not sitting with her,” she repeated.
Justin was conflicted, it was obvious that he wanted to drag Naomi out of that table but with Stacy refusing to sit with her, he doesn’t know what to do.
Seeing his conflict, Noami smiled softly and pried his fingers open, freeing her hand. “You know, I think I would prefer staying here, Anita wants to talk to me after all,” she sat down and smiled up at Justin, “I’m fine here, don’t worry.”
Justin clenched his teeth so hard that it could break if he had the power, his eyes turned to Asher and he knew he would lose, after all, Stacy had refused to sit with her. Swallowing his anger, he turned and stormed out of the cafeteria and Stacy glared at Naomi, her eyes slowly going to Asher and widening in shock when she saw his face. Justin had been blocking him from her view and now seeing the boy whose voice had made her scared initially, she didn’t know how to feel and can only turn and run after Justin.
