"Finally, you guys are here. Kanina pa namin kayo hinihintay," Ma'am greeted us.

Ate Lysandra gave us a long, assessing look. She's really observant about her surroundings. I know she's kind, and I love the idea of getting close to her, but sometimes I feel self-conscious around her. She has this effect on me, like she can read what's on my mind.

"Sabay kayo?" she asked.

"Ano po, ate. Nakasalubong ko lang siya sa hallway. Hindi naman po kami sabay. Nagkataon lang po," I explained.

"Lach?" she asked, turning to Lachlan.

He didn't respond. He just pulled out a chair and sat down beside Ate Lysandra, taking out his pen and calculator as if nothing had happened.

Hindi na rin ako tinapunan ng tingin ni Ate Lysandra kaya agad na rin akong umupo sa tabi ni Rey.

I felt uncomfortable with the setup. I just wanted to go home. I wanted to rest. I was overthinking things again. Maybe Ate Lysandra doesn't really like me? Was it obvious that I liked Lachlan last year? Hindi naman na. So why am I still self-conscious?

I decided to focus my attention on Ma'am. She explained that Ellie wouldn't be joining us today because something important came up. It would just be the four of us reviewing today, which is why she wasn't at the reco earlier.

"Okay, listen. Since this is a team competition. Dapat you can work together at magkaka-sundo kayo sa lahat ng decisions niyo during the competition. I want you guys to know who you’re most comfortable with. You need to choose two people," Ma'am explained.

"Do we have to consider Ellie, ma'am?" tanong ni Rey.

"No. She's absent for our sessions today. Kayo-kayo lang muna."

"Okay po." Rey said and nodded her head.

"Zaylee, you go first." tawag ni ma'am sa akin.

"Ma'am...nakaka-pressure. Bakit ako po ang mauuna?" I laughed nervously

"Go ahead. It’s nothing serious. I just want to know who you're comfortable with"

"Si Rey po...and.."  I stopped mid-sentence. I couldn't choose between Ate Lysandra and Lachlan. I glanced at Ate Lysandra, who was fidgeting with her hands, looking down.

Sunod ko namang tinignan si Lachlan. Unlike Ate Lysandra, he was calm, sitting confidently in his chair like a king. He stared at me, as if waiting for his name to come out of my mouth. He was confident pa to look at me while his palm setting on his head.

Inisip ko nang mabuti kung alin sa dalawa ang pipiliin ko. If I chose Ate Lysandra, it would seem normal since I was getting to know her better, and this would be a chance to get closer. But if I didn’t choose Lachlan, he might feel slighted, considering we've been friends before. He might think that, despite all the memories we shared during FM2 and BAC5, I didn't even pick him.
