Hayes's POV
"Nash!" I yelled, and checked the time. He was still asleep, but I didn't care. I go into his room, and he was snoring loudly. I shake him awake, and he groans.
"What?!" He said.
"When are you going to tell Juliet? I just had to lie to her because you didn't tell her yet." I said.
"Sorry, dude. I tried, I really did. But then she changed the subject and the topic just disappeared." He explained.
"How does the topic just disappear?" I asked.
"She was buying something, I said it was cool, and she got really happy. I bought it for her and she freaked out but I knew she was grateful for it, and then we walked back to the beach." He said.
"Oh. What did she buy?" I asked.
"Damn dude, you'll figure it out okay? Just go back to sleep." He said.
"Fine, but promise me you'll tell her soon?" I sighed.
"Yeah, okay. I promise." He said, and I could hear him snore soon after.
I walked back to my room, and debated to tell her right there, but I couldn't.
I can't just tell her my own brother's secret, and even if I did, everyone would be mad at me because she found out from me, and not him.
I close my eyes, and let sleep take over.

Juliet's POV
When I woke up, Ashley was gone. She left a note in the kitchen saying that she had to work on the essay but she couldn't do it here. I wanted to ask her why, but I decided against it.
I walk back to my room to get clothes to take a shower. I set my clothes down in the bathroom and start running the water.
Maybe Nash would tell me today, I think. Maybe he will finally tell me.
I get in the hot shower and start rubbing shampoo and conditioner in my hair, doing my normal routine.
When I get out of the shower, and get dressed in my clothes, I got a missed call from Hayes. I call him back, and on the third ring he answers.
"Hey, what's up?" I asked.
"Hey, uh...." He pauses for a second. "Can you hang out today?" He asked.
"Most likely, yeah." I answered. "I'm going to grab some breakfast then I'll meet up with you at Nash's house."
"Sounds good. I'll see you then." He said. We exchanged our goodbyes and hung up.
I walk to the closest food restaurant, which happens to be Urth Caffé, and I grab a seat alone outside.
This reminds me of when I went here with Matt before. I hate to say it, but I miss him. It's been a while since I talked to him, and we ended things on a bad note.
Maybe he's changed. That wasn't like him before.
Instead of calling him, I call Lesley, because I needed her.
"Hello?" She answered.
"When was the last time you talked to Matt?" I asked.
"Last night. We were actually talking about you." She said.
"Really?" I asked. The waitress came over to get my drink so I told her what I wanted. "What did you say?"
"He said he misses you. That he screwed up everything. That he would rather die than not talk to you again." She said.
"Did he really say that?" I asked.
"He might've exaggerated the last part, but yeah. He said that." She said.
"So do you think I should talk to him again?" I asked.
"Yeah, I mean, he used to be your best friend for a while. Why would you throw away two years worth of friendship?" She said.
"I hate that." I said. "We used to be best friends."
"I hate that too." She said. "You should really talk to him."
"I will. Thanks. We have to see each other again." I said, and she laughed.
"Obviously. New York stinks without you, and Michelle is in her own little world with Shawn. He's probably doing amazing on tour. We have to get the squad back together." She said, and I laughed.
"Yeah, squad. Okay well I have to talk to Matt. I'll tell you how it goes later. Okay? Bye Les." I said, and she said goodbye and hung up.
When the waitress came over with my drink, and I sipped it nervously. Why should I be nervous? Two years of friendship and I shouldn't be nervous.
I dial his number, and he picks up when the voicemail was about to start.
"Juliet?" He answered. "How...how are you?"
"I'm good. How about you?" I asked.
"Good, now that you answered. I have to apologize." He said.
"I'm at Urth Caffé if you want to talk. Come by soon, okay?" I said, and he sighed.
"Alright. I'll be there in ten." He said as he hung up.
The waitress came by with what I wanted to eat, and she left as soon as she came when I told her.
I waited for Matt patiently, and went through the apps on my phone to pass time. When I ran out of things to do, I texted Hayes.
Me: be there soon. I just ordered my food.
Hayes: alright. I can't wait :))
Me: for what...?
Hayes: for you to come over, obviously.
Me: oh right.
"Juliet?" Matt said, as he stood next to me.
"You can sit down, Matt." I said, as he did that.
There was a long silence between us. It was a nervous silence, as we looked around, trying to piece the puzzle together.
"Listen. I'm so sorry." He said, and I nodded. "I really did mess up your life, and when I realized what I did, it was too late."
"I'm sorry too." I said. "Yeah, you did mess up my life but I think it was more of me than you."
"No, it was all me." He said. "I can't believe I hurt my best friend."
"We're still friends?" I said.
"Of course, Juliet. I mean, I can't throw away how long we've been friends, I mean, we've been through a lot together."
"I know." I smiled. "I can't believe we haven't talked in so long."
"So, I know that you don't have to forgive me but I'd really want to go back to the way things were before. I missed you so much." He said.
"No. I forgive you." I said.
"You do?" He smiled.
"Yeah. I do." I said.
"Good. I love you Julie." He grinned.
"Don't call me that." I said, and he laughed.
It was good to have him back.
