"If I told you that I'm taking my team and leaving tomorrow, what would you say? Would you come with us?"

Princess Renner paused mid-sip, taken by surprise. Her bodyguard Climb, who was just as taken back, looked to Lakyus with surprise... and a bit of hope. Even Brain, who was simply standing guard, turned his head towards their table.

Renner put down her cup and looked to her friend inquisitively.

"Where is this coming from?"

The question was for curiosity's sake. Renner knew that when the captain of Blue Rose made up her mind, it was simply made up. She had been certain their leader would choose to stay and fight. What had changed?

Lakyus stayed silent for a moment, but she answered, "my team confronted me about my decision. They... They don't want to stay and fight. But they don't want to leave if it means I'll be staying."

"Then, why won't they stay...?" Climb started, but trailed off, seeming to come to the epiphany all at once.

Lakyus did not mention what they would have done if she insisted. Lakyus had not realized it back then, but after they told her, Lakyus realized how far they would go to ensure her safety, even if it meant going against her orders.

Climb stopped himself because, if he was a little short off of being princess Renner's lackey, he would've done the same.

All the while, Brain was watching from the sidelines, stumped. He didn't have that sort of loyalty towards anyone, so he couldn't quite come to the conclusion that Lakyus and Climb had reached. But Renner, the one most familiar with the attitude of a devout, caught on (faster than Climb had). She did not say this.

"I see. Well, to your question, I'd say no."

Climb and Brain both snapped to the third princess. "Your Majesty..."

"I had a duty as a royal to fulfill, Climb. I cannot leave in good conscience." Climb, ever faithful, said nothing. Renner turned to Lakyus and smiled. "What I can do, however, is serve you one last meal in Re-Estize before you go?" Lakyus looked just as crushed over Renner's choice as Climb was. "I'm sorry, I can only afford to have one last cup of tea. But thank you."

Renner nodded and poured her cup til it was filled the brim, emptying the pot to it's last drop. As her friend took a sip from the cup, Renner hummed to herself. 'Seems I've run into yet another unexpected development. The question is, what do I tell Ainz Ooal Gown... I know!'

"Lakyus, it may not matter now, but could you please tell me where you are leaving to?"

In other words, Blue Rose shared their thoughts on the War to Lakyus, and she agreed.
(I find the Overlord Novel's concept of loyalty interesting.)
