"Ah! Found 'em!" Aiden yelled. "Wait aren't you two supposed to be dead or something?" Aiden asked the two girls. I snorted, despite how weird I felt. Tyler walked over and shoved Aiden's head out of the way.

"Move-" he snapped, then sighed in relief when he saw me and Tay were okay.

"Ah, I feel another wave coming on," Aiden said, covering his mouth.

Ashlyn was sweating, head on the edge of the shower. I chuckled, gripping the sink to stay upright.

Just what...

...is going on?

The red sky was so engraved into my mind that it was weird to see the blue sky. It was weird to see normal humans instead of phantoms (we had named the creatures phantoms because they make what Ashlyn had called "phantom noises") roaming the streets. Weird to be around other people or to hear the normal chatter in the lunchroom.

Which made it difficult to hear Tyler say, "I still think we should go back to Savannah."

I rolled my eyes, sitting between Taylor and Logan once more. "Alright," I said calmly. "And what do you suggest we will do once we get there?"

Tyler gave me a warning look, and I gave him a leveling glare. Ashlyn sighed. "Let's take some time to think on it again, and then have a group vote later tonight."

"Why not after school?"

I froze, and Taylor glanced at me and then Tyler.

"I have ballet after school," Ashlyn said.

"So what? Skip it."

I groaned. "Tyler, you have baseball practice and Taylor has a mechanics meeting. Plus my competition is today. I can't miss that. You, of all people, should know that."

I clenched my fist under the table, my nails piercing my skin, warm liquid slowly seeping out. I winced at the familiar sting. Hurt more than I remembered.

It's better than crying.

"I... um... have to help at the flower shop today..." Logan muttered, looking away.

"See?" I said, hoping I didn't sound desperate. "Even Logan is busy."

Taylor saw past my anger and gripped my hand under the table, looking at Tyler. "Even with what's happening, we can't just neglect school and our future. You need baseball." -I looked away as Taylor talked, looking down at the slowly bleeding wounds I had caused a second ago on my palm- "Let's just wait until tonight-"

"We aren't going to have a future if we're dead!" Tyler raised his voice, and my head flew up to look at him.

"It's not just our future," Ashlyn leaned forward. "If we drop everything to focus on fantasy-like events, we're going to end up in a psyche ward. Do you think that's going to make it easier or harder for all of us to have meetings during the day?"

Aiden chuckled, head resting on one hand while the other hand had a finger spinning circles around the side of his head, like when you call someone 'kookoo'. "She's got a point, y'know. Generally we're what people would call 'crazy'."
