We're Not Dead Yet, Right?

Aiden elbowed me, grinning still. "Then how aboutwe arm wrestle?"

"Hell no, you'd lose so bad your ancestors would be disappointed in you," I laughed. Taylor laughed as well.

"Or I could test it by smacking you," Ashlyn snapped.

We all looked down. "Sorry, we're listening."

"Rock, paper, scissors, shoot!" Aiden and I yelled in usion.

"Ha! I win!" Aiden yells, grinning, as he smashes his palm over my fist. "Paper beats rock!"

I scowled playfully. "You cheated!"

"Nuh uh!" Aiden yelled, and I did the only thing I could do in that situation. I tackled him. He laughed, and we rolled into the wall, playfully punching and pulling each other's hair. Suddenly, Logan let out a small noise.

"'Ah'?" Tyler asked, looking over. Aiden and I stopped, him laying on me.

"Can't they just track the train we're on right now and make it stop?" Logan asked.

Oh yeah. They were the government.

"Oh right."

"WE CAN'T CATCH A BREAK!"

With a loud screech, the train stopped. "Oh hey," I said flatly. "Just on time."

We all looked at where the front of the train would be. Ashlyn quickly got up. "We need to get off the train."

And we did. We hid in the trees as they conducted an impromptu train search. After hours, they started the train back up again, and we hopped back on. We got off again when the train slowed for its next stop, snuck onto a different train, hid in the train cart during the night to avoid the horde of phantoms, and finally made it to a small town the next day. We used the money Alex had given us to buy a new phone and get supplies. Then, we made it to a dingy motel where we can clean up and rest for a moment.

Logan and Tyler were on sleeping bags, Ben was sitting at the rickety table, head in his arms, and Ashlyn, Taylor, Aiden, and I were all on the small bed. I felt arms wrap around my almost limp body, and pull me close. "I'm starving," Taylor said from the foot of the bed.

The only thing I'd eaten in the past few days was that bag of Cheez-Its, and before I hadn't eaten or drank anything other than some water.

Ashlyn, laying with a towel under her head, responded with, "Let's get some rest first... then we'll go find something to eat."

"I'm also hungry though-" Aiden started. He glanced down, and Ashlyn was out cold. "Already?!"

"Welp, that's that," I said tiredly, getting under the rough covers.

"Someone set a timer for three hours," Tyler said, in his sleeping bag.

Logan pulled out the phone. "I will."

I felt Aiden let go of me for a second, and I watched as he wrapped Ashlyn's hair in the towel. I patted Taylor's leg, and she sighed, getting under the covers with me. Aiden followed suit, and Ben put a blanket over Ashlyn, then sat back down in the chair and fell asleep.

Aiden's arms wrapped around me, head in my neck. I quickly fell asleep. Maybe everything would turn out okay.

"Food..." Taylor groaned, as we all dug into our breakfast. My hair was in a long braid down my back, with a black baseball cap over it. I was in grey cargo pants and a white tee, just like Taylor and Tyler. We had blue sneakers on as well.

"Has Alex messaged back yet?" Ashlyn asked, sipping her coffee.

"I keep checking, but there hasn't been a response yet."

I glanced at Taylor, worried. It'd been hours since we'd texted.

"Alright," Ashlyn said. "Let's figure out our options of transportation since we've figured out where we are."

"Fill me in when I get back, I gotta use the restroom," Aiden said, getting out of his seat.

I nodded, then turned back to Ashlyn. "We can't take a taxi nor Uber, because for all we know, Maverick could have put us out as notorious criminals that escaped jail or some shit."

Ashlyn nodded, but before she could respond, Tyler got up. "I also have to use the restroom."
