Shivamsha

I think I intimidated her. Trust me, it was definitely not my intention. Not after waiting for two years to properly hear her voice, listen to her talk about something she loves, but I think I did. I want to hit myself on the head now. She hasn't spoken a word in almost 4 seconds. "Off course", she said, and I sighed in relief.

"Sir, I will ask you a few questions. Can you please answer it for me? You need not be worried it is very easy." She said. I like how this is going.

"I'd be happy to. Please do", I replied.
"Sir, do you know scissors?"

"Yes"

"Good, then can you tell me if anybody has told you that you look like your parents? And what do you think the reason can be?"

"Yes, I have. It is because of heredity"
"Bingo, and this is because we all possess something called the DNA. And just like us, even bacteria have DNA". She said, and I nodded.

"Now, imagine that you are a bacterium, which is having this DNA....."

After what seemed like a short 3 minutes, I could see her smile victoriously after she finished her extremely simple and beautiful explanation. I wanted to jump out of happiness because I was too proud of her. I'm so proud that she had not just byhearted for the sake of it but had actually understood it. This is what science is about. The more you understand, the better you explain.

"Thank you for your patience. It was wonderful," I thanked, offering my smile. She simply nodded her head. I am sure I saw her smiling hesitantly. The lab was not so busy. It was around lunch break, so the crowd was thinning. I decided to talk to her. "So how is it going?" I asked. I never did this before. Never have I made efforts to talk to her because I am aware that she is uncomfortable around me, but today was an exception. She can actually speak comfortably with me. Now that I have experienced this, I want more of it. I want to hear her talk. She lifted her head and then I heard my monkey sing and call me. I should be fuming now, but I am not. How can I? That's my baby sister Siddhi.

She hugged me, and it reminded me of the time when she was young, with two pony tails, moving around cutely whenever she was shaking her head in excitement. We spoke for some time; I could see Avi shaking on the side, having seen me as though I was a ghost. That is because when I got to know Siddhi was friends with him, I needed to be sure that he did not have any funny idea or business around her. I probably have scared him off a bit too much. It is funny and cute though, to see him all terrified. Siddhi walked to Priya and asked her how it felt to talk to me without her presence. Priya side eyed her signaling to shut her mouth and smiled, looking at me nervously. That is when I realised that I had crossed my boundaries or whatever it is called. The cage that I had built around my feelings to keep my respect towards Priya as my sister's friend had been unlocked.

I realised I wanted her to be more than that. I wanted to know about what she thinks and what she thinks about me. My secretly kept feelings in some corner of my head had been let free, and it wanted more. It came out of that cage and wants to go beyond boundaries, but I was hesitant. I had found my potential interest. I am thoroughly confused, which is unlike me. Shivamsha with plans, who goes for whatever he wants is hesitant. He was hesitant to take the wrong step, so I decided to put those feelings back in the cage exactly where it belonged. The potential interest I was talking about was beyond what I deserve. Priya? I don't even have the right to call her that. She must go back to being my sister's friend. Once was enough. Once is enough for a lifetime to remember. I can live with it.
