"Nothing in this world can stop the spread of her wings."

???. Red Room
November, 1995

VAY exhaled softly as she stood, gazing up at the glass ceiling above her. She opened her wings, allowing them to absorb the light. They glimmered prettily, purple, green, blue and red hues fading across the edges of her limbs. They were darker around that part, always gleaming nearly see through the closer it got to her back. She let her wings flap slow before she lunged into the air. Her wings spread out instantly and she circled as high as she possibly could in the air. She reached the ceiling before stopping.

She gazed down, her wings flapping at a slow rate, like that of a predatory bird, rather than a hummingbird.

"Are you having fun?!" Uncle Pierce spoke from below, smiling with amusement.

He was sitting on one of the mats, alongside Papa who was doing a very good job guarding her dragon plushie. Uncle Pierce had been extra kind today, and allowed her to stretch her wings and take flight for as long as she wanted to.

So she flew, rising and falling.

She drew closer to the glass, rising higher, before turning forward and diving towards the ground. Her wings closed as she fell towards the ground. She drew closer and closer to Uncle Pierce, before letting her wings fall outward, flying directly above them.

She giggled when she heard Uncle Pierce let out a laugh of amusement.

When she first tried dropping so close she thought Uncle Pierce might get upset, but he'd only applauded her. It only made him amused and Vay liked making Uncle Pierce happy, even though she wasn't meant to like. She spun back up into the air, rising to the ceiling again. This time she tried flying differently, mimicking the flying pattern of a fly, turning and angling her wings in different ways. It was always fun to find new ways to fly.

Having six wings meant she could do a lot of things.

She flew around up at the ceiling for a few minutes, before she looked down at Uncle Pierce to check on him and Papa. Uncle Pierce was gazing up at her with bright eyes while he brushed Papa's hair back. Vay smiled, before turning and letting herself fall.

The floor was ten feet away from her before she opened her wings, slowing her fall as she stepped in front of Uncle Pierce.

"Well that was quite an impressive display." Uncle Pierce carefully pushed Papa's head off his shoulder.
