"The only reality is in front of you, all else is an illusion."???, New Mexico
September, 2011"LOOK, I already told Commander Rumlow that I was busy." She huffed, running a hand through her hair before pulling it up into a tight ponytail. "If you want to find another time you can, Uncle Rollins. But I got called for work."
Vay folded her wings behind her as she exited Sasha's home, taking one of the tactical vehicles he stored for his outings. She slipped into the seat, shutting the door behind her before locking the doors and putting the car to drive. She kept her foot on the brake as she started to braid her hair.
Uncle Rollins sighed on the other side of the phone– a flat screen device that had been her early fifteenth birthday gift from Sasha. The only people who had access to her phone were Sasha, Uncle Rollins, Uncle Rumlow, other HYDRA agents, and, lastly, Papa, though he was rarely given access to a phone when he was pulled out of cryostasis.
"This is the third time you've canceled on us." Uncle Rollins was probably rubbing his temples. "It's almost like Pierce is doing this on purpose."
Vay exhaled.
It was always risky for Vay to talk about Pierce with her Uncles, but she had to most of the time. Pierce sent her on missions once in a while, to keep her mind focused and sharp, and to never forget her position as Agent 17.
Vay never forgot, but it was becoming increasingly harder not to brush into SHIELD agents.
"I would be unsurprised if he was." Vay replied softly. "If I was allowed to miss you, I would say I miss you. And I also miss Uncle Rummy."
She could see Uncle Rollins smile.
"It's been a while since you've called him that." Uncle Rollins hummed.
"Well, Sasha is always listening. He seemed to be in a good mood so I'm sure he won't get too upset about it today." She assured both Uncle Rollins and herself.
Vay lifted her foot off the break as she finished braiding and looping her hair into a bun. She exited the garage, the vehicle under her feet roaring to life. She exhaled sharply as she swiftly turned the vehicle, smiling to herself at the rush of adrenaline.
Once she exited the villa she started to talk again.
"Maybe next week." Vay added. "I'll beg Sasha if I have to. Anyways, Uncle, I've gotta go. I've got a private jet to catch and I've gotta drive myself."
