Ch 130: Revelations

Ace

'Its not her'

The words echo in my brain until I say them out loud, "It's not her."

My heart beats painfully heavy as I stand up and look around the charred room, there's a pair of shackles attached to the wall in the far corner of the white room with a single metal bed attached to it, a small window, the size of my fist is the only other thing.

"She was here." I say to Alex with a clenched jaw.

"How do you know that?" he asks with a neutral voice.

"I just do." I say meeting his eyes.

"So why burn down the place?" Viktor asks as if thinking to himself.

"Because whoever has her knew we were coming."

"Nobody had an idea apart from few." My mind reels with possibilities.

"Search the house, see anything unusual and you call me." I say to my men.

Moving out of the door I walk through the house before stopping in front of the room where most smoke is coming from, one of the guys with the water nozzles greet me.

"Why is so much smoke coming out from here?" I ask.

"We believe this is where the fire started from, all the various computers stacked blasted to cause it."

I go inside the room and sure enough is a charred mess of a plethora of computers and screens. My mind works in overdrive, there are at least eight computers in here, so much like the setup with a person versed with them.

Footsteps stop behind me, "This was one hella setup." Viktor says looking around.

"Someone who knows his way around the digital world." I comment looking around.

"Pack all this up and send it to Lev to try to recover whatever he can."

"Uhh... Lev is missing... I told you before." Viktor says looking at me a furrowed eyebrow.

My eyes snap to his as a niggling doubt starts to take root in my mind, "Since when is he missing for Viktor?"

His eyes meet mine as he says, "A couple of days."

My jaw clenches, "and he wears a button down always." I say quietly.

"Uhh... yes... No way Fuck." Viktor says with wide eyes, my heart races as I clench my hands.

"Isn't it such a pleasant coincidence that one of my close working hackers who has all access to my inner workings is missing in a very convenient time along with my wife's disappearance and he is always wearing full button down's." I growl.

"Find him, I want him as soon as possible." I snarl. I might be wrong, but these are too many fucking coincidences to be considered happeneing at once.

Alex enters the room just as Viktor jogs out, "How can you be sure?"

"One of my hackers is missing and we are finding a whole ass hacker setup here along with the fact that for some reason all the information we have been getting since my wife's kidnapping is nothing and now our immediate plan of raid is again coincidentally known to the kidnapper and he dispaprears again." I spit.

"Let's fly back to New York then." He says with a serious face.

"But what if he has her here?"

"He won't... he would like to have her somewhere in plain sight... and even if not so, we need to go down there and catch your father." I think about it... my mind screaming 'No..No..No', but deep down I know Alex is right, I need to go back to catch my father first.
