The world went to shit, no one really knew why ,no one knew if it was ever going to sort itself out, people only knew they had to do what they had to do to survive.
For some that was staying clear of people, others that was getting in big groups, some odd ones out there took this as an opportunity to do all the bad things they wouldn't have gotten away with before.
Men being creeps to woman, people breaking into shops stealing tvs and phones when really what was the point, when was the next time we would ever be able to use them again.
I've been on my own since the beginning, I've came across a few groups, none I've had the urge to stay with, weak people don't make me feel safe, me I make me feel safe and in a world like this we need to feel as safe as we can.

My life before I left home wasn't the best, I worked away from where I grew up, threw myself into hunting, teaching people how to track, kill and survive all for the army, I worked hard, I got what I wanted in life because I done it I had no one to help me, my mother died when I was young and I was left with an abusive father, drunk always used to beat me, only escape I'd have was school, it was like that for a while, soon I met a boy, We done everything together for months , he took my virginity in the end, we was very close, he was one of my best friends, but I left as soon as the opportunity shown itself, I left without a goodbye just a small letter saying I had to leave, I don't do goodbyes, sometimes I wonder if he is okay, if he managed to beat this virus and live, other parts don't want to think about things that make me sad, I haven't seen him in years but he was a big part of my childhood and I owe him a lot.

It's been a good few weeks since the end happened, I've been on my own most of it drifting, sometimes in groups that end up getting killed sometimes I walk right past unseen, I've been walking for days no water just the food I can catch, best part about my old job was keeping my skill set fresh, little did I know I'd need it for a damn zombie apocalypse but here we are.
Days on my own no human interaction, it does something to the mind, I didn't know where I was heading I was just walking till I wanted to stop, on the nights I stopped I climbed a tree wrapped a rope round my body and the tree and slept, most people sleep in tents but that's how a lot of people see you from miles away, in a group setting that's much better but one single woman on her own that's a free pass to any creeps walking by.

Woods

I was walking through the woods not far off the highway, I tend not to go on roads anyone who has cars would spot me easily so I stay hidden
A deer caught my eye walking through the trees, i crouch down getting ready to hit it with my bow and arrow, footsteps and movement from my left knocks me off guard, I put my bow down and watch, still keeping guard, one man in a sheriff uniform spoke "Shane" was all he said before nodding at the man in black smiling down at a small brown haired boy.

they both stood back watching the boy get closer to the deer a big smile on his face clearly this being his first time close to this type of animal, the men watch in awe, but what they don't see is a small glint from a rifle in the distance aiming...

they both stood back watching the boy get closer to the deer a big smile on his face clearly this being his first time close to this type of animal, the men watch in awe, but what they don't see is a small glint from a rifle in the distance aiming in on the deer, the little boy probably not being seen by the man behind the gun, my reaction was quick I got up I ran out from the trees putting myself between the deer and the boy having no time to do anything else, the gun shot rang through the air a pain erupted in my whole body
"Oh no. No no NO! CARL!" One of the men screamed as they ran over to us, the man in the uniform held my face and I felt the other one drag the boy out from under me, "he's fine man" , the man in the uniform held my face " hey hey hey it's okay we are going to get you help okay, thank you thank you" was what he repeated looking me in my eyes "damn who is this girl she came out of no where" my vision was blurring as I was trying to listen to them, breathing becoming hard "I don't no but she saved my boy so I'll save her, Carl keep up" him saying that was the last thing I heard before it all went black the pain taking over.

Farm house

Rick ran with you in his arms dragging you through trees and fields running towards a house the shooter Otis pointed him towards.
A lady sat on the porch stood yelling for her family to come and see, they saw the man covered in blood not knowing what was going on "please you need to help, your man shot her" Rick plead "it was an accident, I didn't see the boy she jumped in front of the bullet" Ricks breathing laboured from the running and worry for the lady who risked her life for his boy "bring her inside, get towels, warm water and my gear" the man in the farmers outfit replied, Rick lightly smiled at the man "thank you" "what's her name?" They questioned him "I don't know, I'm sorry I don't know her"
