Maddie watched the world practically pass by the next day or two, she couldn't really keep track. Her eyes would wander, and she still took care of herself, but truthfully, no one knew how to help or what to do.

The rest of the villiage carried on and told stories of Rondell from time to time, like they didn't have a care in the world, she didn't know. Dahlia would watch and noticed her friends pain and confusion.

Shifting, she decided that there would be only one person to help out, and she didn't know how, but he would. Her wings picked up speed as she landed by his window, the curtains drawn.

The window itself was slightly open, using her head, she gently opened it and looked around. She didn't sense anyone in the room. However, to keep herself hidden, she decided to wait up in the corners of the room, there was a little bit of an edge on them. Sitting on the perch, she noticed a few people coming and going throughout the last 20ish minutes she was sitting.

However, before long, there he was. The prince she had contacted not long ago, but behind him was a woman. Judging from the way she was following him and the fact that he looked like he was nursing a headache, she could see that he was not in the mood for anything or anyone at the moment.

Not like she cared, her friend needed her and as far as she knew, this man was the only one who could maybe help her. Dahlia watched as he shoved her out the door and closed it, locking it in the process.

"Does stuff like that always happen around here?" She asked, shifting and sitting on the edge of the landing in the corner. She smirked and laughed as she watched him jump from the noise. He was looking arund, probably expecting another female to jump him or something.

"Up here," She said. Looking up, he then recognized the face and outfit.

"Why are you here?" He said rubbing his face, not really in the mood to deal with anyone or anything.

"I came to ask for a favor."

"Favor?"

"Yes. I have seen your interaction with Maddie of the Dark Reigns, and i believe she needs your help," She said. Turning his head, he looked up at her, his mind wondering what she may have ment.

"Since Rondell's passing, she has been just staying in the background, not bothering to interact, she just has this solumn look about her," she said. Hopping down from the corner edge, she stood with her hands on her hips, very serious this time. Kyle looked down at his hands, too much was happening at once.

"Where is she?"

"Where she always is at this point...her bedroom," She said.

"Can you get her to meet me in the forest?"

"I can do more than that if you so wish," She said, going back towards the window. He didn't know what she meant.

"Your a raven shifter, why are you doing this?" He said, not understanding.

She froze, hands delicatly on the window.

"In truth, Dark Reigns have always saved the forests. Not as much as when they where first pushed into it by your kind. My kind didn't want to have anything to do with them, we could have been grapes or caviar to them. But my kind interacted with them and learned that they weren't as bad as they looked. I was one of those who read the stories and believed otherwise, until I met Maddie and her family. They treated me like family and took care of me when I became an orphan, invited my people to things, you name it, they did it. Over time, I practically became eyes and ears in the sky, not because they asked, but because I needed to repay them. As such, I became close friends with her, and eventually Rondell. I hate seeing her like this and I know the truth between you two. Just please don't hurt her, don't treat her like everything and then just chew her up and spit her out," She said.

Kyle walked gently forward and looked at her in the eyes through the reflection of the window, they looked sad and close to breaking.

"I won't. She is my mate, she is the last person I would ever want to hurt," He said.

Dahlia turned around and glanced at his face. she could see in his eyes that he was telling the truth.

"I will lead her to a area of ruins, meet her there," She said.

"Ruins? Alsbath..." He said. She nodded. An old set of ruins that where found recently, an area that seemed torn down, an area that there was no records, but the Dragonlights assumed that it was the old home of the Dark Reigns due to its location and how close it was.

They had called it Alsbath to give it a name, and it was etched on one of the stone carvings, but they could never find any kind of information regarding the area, or the word.

She faced the window again and shifted, flying off into the forest, towards the Dark reigns location.

Kyle grabbed the edges of the window and just watched her fly off, her dark wings traveling. He raced to his closet and grabbed a jacket, racing out of the palace, not caring who saw him.

"Kyle....KYLE!" His mothers voice said as he raced past her. He ignored her calls and took off, he had seen how fast Dahlia was , and he had a little bit longer to go when it came to getting the ruins.

He raced away from the castle, not hearing anything or anyone. Except his mother, who flew out in front and stopped him in his tracks. Walking out in front of him, she  looked him in the eyes. She knew exactly why. She looked down towards the ground smiled even more, and took off a necklace that had been wrapped around her neck for the longest of time.

"Your father gave me this when we knew that we where mates, it is a family heirloom. Give it too her," She said handing it to him.

"Mother..."

"Go," She said. He smiled, kissed her cheek and ran off. The ruins where about a 20 min walk, but if memory served right, if MAddie came, she was about 5 min from it.

She just sat against the wall, not sure what to do.  A tap came lightly at her window and a familiar flock of dark feathers appeared.

Opening it, "Dahlia? Whats wrong?" She asked. Dahlia just grabed the edges of her hair and pulled, nearly dragging her out the window.

"Ow, stop, please. Whats wrong?" She asked. Dahlia let go, and Maddie grabbed her shoes and ran off, jumping out her window. Following the bird was easy until they got to the forest. The shadows where hiding her dark wings. But she managed to keep following, until they hit the ruins.

Looking around, Maddie didn't get it, until some crunching was heard. She turned around and saw Kyle running towards them. He looked out of breath, but once he stopped at the edge and looked at her, she nearly caved.

She didn't know how much she was struggling till she saw him.

"Maddie?" He raced up and grabbed her before her knees smashed the stone under her. This was the second time this week that he saw her shield fall. But he just hugged her, and there they would stay until she was ready to talk, leave, or just hug.

He looked up in the sky, and watched as Dahlia hung around, before flying off either home or back to Maddies village.

But there they stayed, him holding her and her crying even more, until there was nothing left. She slowly removed herself from his arms to wipe her tears and look at his face.

He smiled and wiped her tears himself, she smiled and he swore he felt his heartbeat quicken.

"Can you please stay?"
