His father breathed and sighed while looking out the window. Looking back at his eldest he finally started to speak.

"I once thought that perhaps Dark Reigns did exist still. Within our forests. When i was your age, i used to travel in the woods and wonder who they where and what they where like, but in the end there was only one, and he was slaign. I made sure of that," The King said looking at the table.

Kyle felt his mouth somewhat drop, and looked off to the side. "Why father?" He asked with a hint of a whine.

"Because they where going to threaten what we have. What we where going to do and be in the future," his father quickly said.

Kyle looked away, his father sounding more and more like a greedy king, even if he felt like he was doing the right thing. Kyle nodded his head, stood up and walked to the door.

But before he left, The King spoke once more. "Son, I suspect that you had a reason for asking that question. In the safest intrest of the Dragonlights, I suggest you stop reading those books of fairy tails and pasts and look to the future of our kind," Upon saying that, the King waved his hand and Kyle walked out of the room.

Speed walking out of any of the servants sights, he punched his fists onto an empty wall and slid down to the ground. Placing his head in his hands, he felt tears and his breathing became ragid.

He didnt know the dragon, but he felt like he did, like they where a family. The more he thought about it, the worse it got.

But while he thought about the one dragon that was slain years before, he nearly forgot that the dragon kind his father thought was gone, was far from it.

He was with them, danced with them, talked with them. He even remembered he was a mate with one of them. He smiled.

Once he got up, he ran to his room and shut the door, looking at his closet, he grabbed a cloak and started to slide out the window.

Down the castle walls and onto the pavement he went, to town he would go. He decided that he would get a couple things, a trinket for the creature that was slain and perhaps a new outfit when he would go into the woods.

Passing by shops, he noticed a ring within a outdoor vendor.

"Hello, Julie," he said walking up to the woamn outside.

"Kyle.....oh, excuse me, your majesty," she said and did a curtsy.

Kyle smiled, her hair was almost as golden as Maddie's, but her beautiful brown eyes where far from the green that he so loved.

"Julie, please. I snuck out.....again," he said looking down and pulling his hood over his head.

Julie got up and looked around at the people staring at her, "Sorry, Jimmy dear. You look just like the king to be," she said composing herself. Everyone smiled and waved and agreed with her.

Kyle let iut a breath he didnt even know was held in. Julie pulled down the curtains on the little shop outside and walked into the building right behind it.

"Al, we have a prince in our midst," she called to the back. Out came her husband, hair black as the night, and eyes as bright blue as the sea. The store they owned, was a little jewelry and clothing shop. While it was small, they certainly had wonderful stuff. Kyle usually bought gifts for his sister from the shop. If he told his father that he got her a gift from a small town shop, he would have a cow and might shut it down.

Kyle always loved the couple, and treated them like family, especially their kids. And speaking of them, in popped 2 little girls and a little boy. Julie smiled and watched as they ran around the vacant shop.

Usually when the outdoor shop was around, the indoor shop was closed, kept things a bit easy for them.

Al laughed and hoisted up the youngest two while the older girl ran behind her mothers skirts. Turning around she found kyle and ran to his arms.

"Jamie dear, please," Julie said. "Nah, i dont mind one bit," Kyle told her, she smiled and watched as Jamie laughed.

"So what brings you to us this time," Al asked. Kyle looked hus way and all he got back was a straight face and a eyebrow.

"The ring in the window," he said. Everyone turned to look at it and watched as Al pulled it off the shelf.

"You know this is Julie's first design," Al told him. Julie smiled and went behind her husband.

"Got a girl in kind for this dear," she asked.

"I do. The green reminds me of her a lot," he said. Julie walked off and went to the back room and rummaged through some stuff.

"What did I say," he asked as her rummaging got louder.

"This is Julie's first piece. She made this from before we had Jamie. She loved this color green, but because it was so bright and vibrant, no on would buy it because of the Dark Reigns main color being green. So its been sitting in the window for a while, im surprised you just realized it," he said.

Looking out the window, Kyle couldnt imagine how many times he went by the window and never noticed it.

Perhaps being mates with a Dark Reign was affecting him, in more ways then one. But there was something that was troubling him, well maybe not troubling, but it certainly was on his mind, other than this.

Julie came back out with a boat load of other trinkets. They all looked like the ring.

"I have a feeling there is a reason for u buying that just now," she said. Kyle tried to look every which way when it came to her asking that.

"Dont give me that look Mr. I have been trying to sell that for ages and just now after all this time, you just happen to notice it, she said.

In a way she sounded upset or angry even, but in a way she sounded a bit relieved. The men in the room had no idea what to think at this point. All they knew was that if she was upset or angry, there was no coming back from this alive.

By then Kyle was trying to "escape " the shop without getting his head blown off. But she beat him to the door. Afterwhich he tried to look for the kids, she never really got angry or pried with the kids around. Eh....no dice. They where already in the house just in the back of the shop.

He was toast.

Eventually, his shoulders slumped and he fell to the floor.

"Please dont tell my father,Julie, Al. I wanted to keep this a secret, from him and others. Its about my mate," he said. He would feel his body giving up in a way. Julie watched his body tremble a bit, and Al came alongside him, watching as Kyle placed his head in his hands.

Julie knelt and pushed a lock of hair behind her ears. She lifted his head up with the side of her finger under his chin and all he could do then, was look her dead in the eye.

"She is a Dark Reign, isnt she?"
