Maddie slowly turned towards the queen. She was nervous that she wouldn't be accepted, and she truthfully didn't want her mate to give up his family or the title, she knew he could do good for his people.
"Green is an indicator of a Dark Reign," His mother stated. Maddie looked down, feeling bashful.
"Yes," She said.
"Are you?"
"I am."
"I truthfully thought they where extinct gone. I am glad they weren't," She said.
Maddie got really nervous, what if her family and people where in trouble, in danger.
"My son may have never found his mate if they were," She said with a smile. Maddie looked up into her caring eyes. She meant it, there was no malice or hatred.
She took a releaving sigh.
"I have heard of Dark Reigns, and the word that they should be gone has reached my ears. I never understood why they where gone, what the debate or issues where, nothing. You don't seem like the kind who would overtake anything," she said.
Maddie didn't understand as much.
"I may be a 'ruler' in my home, but I am far from it when it comes to everything else," She said. The queen laughed.
"I was similar. I can see good in you, I know that you are a very good match for my son. And I see you like the gift I gave?"
"Oh, yes. Its beautiful, but I'm afraid it's too much," She said. The queen raised her eyebrow.
"We don't have very many things like this, I worried how it would look," Maddie said. The queen smiled. She looked back out into the night.
"I can understand that. I too once thought the same thing, even though I was a noble," She said.
"I just want my son to be happy and taken care of," she said. Maddie let her words sink in. Through the rest of the night, they both looked out and watched the stars and moon.
The night carried on and it was practically time for Maddie to head on home. she never worried about walking in the middle of the night, what with her eyes and such.
"My dear, why don't you stay?" The king asked.
"I appreciate the offer, but I must be on my way," she said. The king nodded and then started to walk towards his wife. However, no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't find Kyle.
She figured she would see him again soon. In such a case she then walked towards the exit, at least until a hand grasped her own.
Prepaired to fight whoever was there, she turned around only to see the bright blue eyes of her mate and to be engolfed in a hug.
"Leaving without saying goodbye," He said. She felt her smile go from ear to ear.
"I couldn't find you. I figured we where gonna see each other soon," she smiled.
His calming face looked to hers, and before she knew it, his lips where touching hers. The heat on her face was vibrant and when he pulled away, it was just a shock, but not a bad one.
Madie started to walk away, her hand still in his.
"Tomorrow, by the ruins," he said. She smiled and then walked off, ready for the journey home.
Marissa started to nibble her nail. She was practically raised for the soul purpose of marrying the heir to the Dragonlights. It was her fathers plan for her.
Most royalties barely ever met their mate during their time frame to have an heir. Most of the parties where to find a choice mate, except for the last several kings.
She was getting frustrated watching the two of them. And her eyes? The King and Queen couldn't allow that. Especially since there was no reported sights of them for years.
She bit her nail off and felt a low growl escape her throat. She had to think of something, her entire future rested on being his chosen mate. She stormed off and went to go see the King. He would surly be on her side when it came to questioning them being mates.
Judging from how he looked, it was probably just a rebelius phase, besides, how did he find her, a Dark Reign of all things.
He sat in his throne, watching his wife talk with her friends. Marissa came up and curtsied while bowing.
"Your highness, I came to talk to you about your son's betrothal," she said. He looked at her. Intreagued with what she had to say.
Lord Dresdan wasn't the most favorite among the nobles. The King himself really didn't like that family, but before his son met his mate, he was considering what was the best option for him as a wife.
"What about her?"
"Don't you think it's just funny that he brings her along and mentions her now. Not to mention, her eyes. There green," she said.
"I admit the timing is intresting, however, I can see why he wouldn't mention her till now. And whats wrong with her eyes, I thought they suited her nicley," he said. That caught her off guard.
"Your highness..." She started.
"I understand your frustration, Miss. Dresdan. But from what I see, they are meant to be and she brought out a side of my son that I haven't seen in a long time," he said. His head turned and he went back to surveying the crowd.
Marissa started to walk back towards the dwindling crowd, she knew her father would ask and get mad that she didn't come up with ideas to get him, or have him favor her.
She was well loved by people, she smiled and showed her face at events. Marissa was doing everything in order to be a queen, and showing that she was the next queen to be.
What was she to do if his mate turned out to be true and became the queen instead.
She finally bit through her nail due to her anger and frustration. This so called mate, she wasn't going to take the position that Marissa had been pinning for, forever.
Her eyes narrowed in on the general location of the door, and she was fumming when she saw Kyle walking down the stair with a huge smile on his face. She walked over and decided she would figure out as much as she could.
She had too.
His blue eyes watched as she sauntered over. She always tried to look a certain way, tried to impress, but he never was one to agree to it or play into it.
She stopped and curtsied, another thing he never really liked just in general.
"Kyle, I didn't congratulate you on finding your mate. She seems.....nice," She said with a sly smile. he could tell that Marissa felt threatened by Maddie.
Not like he would be with her, while in the public, she looked fantastic, he knew she was the exact opposite.
"Thank you, I appreciate it. We are truly very happy," He said. That got a bit of a stir from her. He felt a bit of a smirk forming. He could practically see her teeth clenching from under her lips.
"How wonderful..."
